CoastView Veterinary Hospital is looking for a full time and part time experienced veterinary assistant as we expand our growing clientele.  We are looking for someone experienced in Urgent Care, who is willing to work a 10:30 am-9 pm schedule 3-4 days per week. 

Our mission is to provide exceptional, compassionate, low stress, and convenient care to our patients as well as clear and honest communication to their owners. Our hospital is Fear Free Certified and the entire staff is at least Fear Free Level 1 Certified with the goal of helping every animal live a full, healthy, and pain free life.

You will assist the doctors and registered veterinary technicians to the fullest possible extent, to help improve the quality of care given to the patients, and to aid the doctors in achieving greater efficiency.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Become Fear Free Certified through provided means

• Obtain and record patient histories

• Collect specimens and perform routine laboratory procedures and tests

• Dispense and administer medications, vaccines, serums and treatments prescribed by doctor

• Prepare patients, instruments and equipment for surgery

• Take initiative and anticipate doctor or patient needs

• Assist in diagnostic, medical and surgical procedures

• Assist with radiographs and ultrasounds

• Provide care and comfort for pets in our facility

• Maintain inventory of pharmaceuticals, equipment, and supplies

• Clean, maintain and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials

• Assist the doctor and technicians with house calls when required

• Use basic computer skills to include practice management software

Characteristics of the ideal candidate:

• Customer service oriented

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Compassionate towards animals and owners

• Detail oriented

• Knowledge of veterinary medicine terminology

• At least two years of experience is required
