Smith Industries is seeking a Coating Inspector to join our Quality team. This position is responsible for ensuring surface preparation and coating applications meet customer specifications, industry standards, and company quality requirements while promoting a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

Inspect surface preparation, environmental conditions, and coating applications for compliance with project specifications.

Perform and document coating inspections, including wet and dry film thickness, adhesion, holiday testing, and final visual inspections.

Review customer specifications, coating data sheets, and inspection requirements.

Identify and document nonconformances and assist with corrective actions.

Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.

Verify proper storage and handling of coating materials and calibration of inspection equipment.

Work closely with production, customers, and third-party inspectors to ensure quality standards are met.

Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE.

Qualifications

Experience in coating inspection, industrial painting, or quality control.

Knowledge of coating systems, surface preparation, and inspection methods.

Familiarity with AMPP (NACE), SSPC, ASTM, or related industry standards is preferred.

Strong attention to detail, communication, and documentation skills.
