    Description:

    We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our office with a strong financial accounting background, required to handle the processing of financial transactions including research, analysis, reconciliations and to serve as the lead in all areas of accounting and operation activities. Collaborating internally and externally to resolve issues and respond to financial requests. Perform oversight functions and reconciliations and inputting data into the financial system, compiling reports and presenting data. Participate in evaluation and design of internal and external workflow and processes, and complete special projects as assigned by Leadership.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Serve as the lead in all financial accounting transactions.
    • Provide high levels of customer service in dealing with clients, vendors and other agencies.
    • Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and materials.
    • Increase productivity by streamlining accounting processes and coordinating information requirements.
    • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications and contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
    • Assist with the annual budget process.
    • Assist with accounting for all capital projects and assets.
    • Coordinate, prepare and review financial and management reports such as bank reconciliations, investment account monitoring and audit responses.
    • Provide support to internal and external parties related to financial activities. Must be able to investigate and resolve customer and vendor inquiries.
    • Reviews and posts journal entries and ensures appropriate supporting documents are provided.
    • Analyzes and reconciles daily and monthly cash activity.
    • Prepare audit and tax schedules.
    • Respond to audit and tax requests.
    • Year-end processing and accruals.
    • Maintains proper controls and procedures in processing accounting transactions.
    • Processes and reviews accounting work assignments for accuracy and completeness.
    • Assists with or performs special projects as assigned.

    • Technically adept in financial accounting with strong knowledge of the general ledger and full cycle accounting processes.

    • Problem-solving skills, with attention to details and accuracy is required.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a field directly related to the type of work being performed.
    • CPA, CPM, or CPFO license credentials preferred and the ability to type 30 wpm and 10-key touch.
    • 5+ Years as Accountant, professional experience in financial or governmental accounting in other organizations is required.
    • Capital projects analyst or progressively responsible experience in the development, coordination, and accounting of capital project. (Preferred)
    • 3+ Years experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – Required.
    • Excellent Technology Skills: Intermediate to Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and Word. Able to create spreadsheets using complex formulas. Able to link data and spreadsheets. Ability to create macros a plus. Excel and Word Skills require testing.

    Physical Demands

    • Office Environment.
    • Able to sit at a computer for more than 6 hours in the day.

    Travel

    • Up to 10%
