Job Overview
The Production Equipment Mechanic I is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all production equipment in the manufacturing facility. This position ensures the smooth operation of machinery and promptly addresses any equipment breakdowns. The Production Equipment Mechanic I also performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks, maintains a clean and safe work environment, and manages inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues by observing equipment in operation and using precision measuring and testing instruments
- Maintain and monitor multiple pieces of equipment by completing assigned preventive maintenance tasks and corrective maintenance work orders
- Ensure compliance with preventive maintenance techniques and assist production workers to maintain optimal efficiency
- Complete any other assigned duties
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to read and follow instructions
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Strong multitasking abilities
- Competency in monitoring and adjusting equipment speeds, temperatures, and liquid levels
- Expertise in identifying and troubleshooting complex process issues
- Capability to make mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic adjustments
- Preferred ability to interpret blueprints, electrical prints, and machine schematics
- Understanding of complex processing equipment
- Initiative to continuously develop technical expertise
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs) required
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 to 3 years of work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge with at least 2 years of experience in plant maintenance and high-speed production equipment, or certification of technical schooling in this area
Work Environment
Noisy, wet, and extreme temperature environment
