Responsibilities: Remove plaque and apply fluoride or other sealants to prevent cavities and tooth decay Perform preliminary dental examinations to get an overview of the patient’s oral health history for the dentist Disinfect all dental instruments to ensure cross-contamination does not occur Look for signs of gum disease, infections, or cavities to ensure issues are caught early and can be treated Give guidance to patients about how to have good dental care at home after undergoing an operation or procedure Qualifications: Able to stand up for long periods of time to administer dental exams and procedures 1-2 years of work experience as a dental hygienist Licensed to practice as a dental hygienist in the state Compensation: $40 - $44 hourly
