    Coeur Mining, Inc. is a well-diversified growing precious metals producer with five operations in North America. Coeur’s wholly owned operations include the Palmarejo gold-silver complex in Mexico, the Rochester silver-gold mine in Nevada, the Kensington gold mine in Alaska, the Wharf gold mine in South Dakota and the Silvertip silver-zinc-lead mine in British Columbia. In addition, the Company has interests in several precious metals exploration projects throughout North America. Coeur’s headquarters are located in Chicago, IL.

    We are seeing a Legal Counsel to be based at our Corporate office in Chicago, IL. 

    Reporting to the Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary, the Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing guidance and counsel on commercial law matters, performing legal research and providing legal support to Coeur’s sites and departments. This role will also be responsible for supporting the following:

    Responsibilities: 

    • Reviewing/negotiating/drafting and advising on a variety of commercial and finance agreements

    • Providing legal advice and assistance to functional groups including Operations, Supply Chain, Technical Services, Finance, IT and HR 

    • Assisting with company-wide compliance program, including drafting corporate policies and procedures, creating training materials, and conducting trainings for employees on various topics

    • Conducts research regarding various topics as requested by the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel

    • Oversee employment-related legal issues and minor litigation matters

    • Maintain and support domestic and international subsidiaries 

    • Manage multiple, time-sensitive priorities and observe strict confidentiality in all instances

    • Performs tasks otherwise requested by the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel

     

    Qualifications:

    • J.D. degree from an accredited law school is required, along with good standing in Illinois State bar (or ability to waive in without necessity to take Illinois bar exam) with a clean disciplinary record.  
    • Approximately 7+ years of legal experience. A blend of major law firm and inhouse experience is preferred.
    • Experience preparing various commercial and finance agreements
    • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
    • Ability to interpret complex data and reports
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
    • Excellent composition and editing skills
    • Excellent reliability, accountability and follow-through
