We’re looking for an enthusiastic, motivated leader who is ready to grow into a management role in a fast-paced, community-focused coffee shop. This Manager-in-Training position is ideal for someone with café or retail experience who wants to develop strong leadership, operations, and business management skills while working hands-on with a supportive team.
Position Overview
The Coffee Shop Manager in Training will work closely with the Store Manager and leadership team to learn all aspects of daily café operations. This role combines customer service excellence, team leadership development, inventory management, and business performance training. The goal is to prepare you to step confidently into an Assistant Manager or Store Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver exceptional customer service and model hospitality standards
Lead shifts and support baristas during peak hours
Learn and execute opening and closing procedures
Assist with staff scheduling and shift coverage coordination
Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing team training
Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies
Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and health compliance standards
Help track daily sales, labor costs, and key performance metrics
Address customer concerns professionally and efficiently
Contribute to marketing initiatives and community engagement efforts
Training & Development
Hands-on leadership coaching from experienced managers
Training in labor management, cost control, and financial reporting
Barista skill mastery and beverage quality control standards
Conflict resolution and team communication strategies
Inventory systems and vendor management training
Performance management and employee development fundamentals
Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in coffee, food service, retail, or hospitality
Previous leadership or shift lead experience preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Passion for coffee and community engagement
Basic understanding of POS systems and cash handling
