Job Title: Coffee Shop Cashier & Food Preparer
Position Overview
We are seeking an energetic, reliable, and guest-focused team member to join our coffee shop as a Cashier & Food Preparer. This dual-role position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service at the register, handling transactions with accuracy, preparing light food items, and ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for all guests.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Cashiering
Greet guests warmly and create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
Accurately process orders using the POS system.
Handle cash, credit card transactions, and receipts with precision.
Answer guest questions about menu items, ingredients, and customization options.
Maintain strong product knowledge of beverages, food items, specials, and promotions.
Manage to-go orders and ensure accuracy before handing them to guests.
Food & Beverage Preparation
Prepare food items such as sandwiches, salads, toast, pastries, and other grab-and-go items according to recipes and standards.
Assist with preparing coffee and tea beverages when needed (basic barista skills a plus).
Portion, label, and stock food items following proper food safety guidelines.
Ensure consistent presentation and quality of all prepared items.
Cleanliness & Organization
Maintain a clean and organized workstation, cashier area, and prep area.
Follow all health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
Restock cups, utensils, napkins, pastries, and packaged goods as needed.
Assist with opening or closing duties, including cleaning equipment, wiping surfaces, and removing trash.
Teamwork & Operations
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
Assist with inventory counts and stocking deliveries as assigned.
Follow store policies, procedures, and service standards consistently.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve workflow and guest experience.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a cashier, counter-service staff, or food preparer preferred but not required.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math and POS operating skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain).
