    Coffman Engineers is looking for a MARKETING SPECIALIST with four to seven years of experience to support the marketing and business development needs of our growing Bay Area office. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for marketing, writing, and relationship building to join our team. The right candidate will focus on Bay Area’s marketing and proposal efforts while supporting the office’s business development strategy.  

    The work in this role includes developing prime and subconsultant proposal materials, marketing materials, and various communications pieces as well as project lead tracking, CRM and marketing database maintenance, BD planning and strategy, presentation development, internal team coordination, event support, and more. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious professional to support and grow with a young and dynamic part of our company. BAY AREA MARKETING SPECIALIST DUTIES:

    • Position requires attention to detail, ability to juggle several tasks at once, a high degree of accuracy, excellent grammar skills, and able to maintain a busy schedule. You will need an eye for graphic design, a brain for strategic thinking, a passion for collaboration, and a hunger for learning new concepts. 
    • Write qualifications-based proposals describing technically complex concepts in a way that non-technical readers can understand. Each proposal is custom written, working from various InDesign templates. The response could be a single page or 50 pages. It could be a response in SF330 format or an architect’s request for qualifications. Every situation is unique. You need to be able to adapt and conquer!
    • Work hand-in-hand with the companywide marketing team, engineers, various departments, and subconsultants to find and track potential project leads, assess prospective clients’ needs, and evaluate the competitive environment.
    • Maintain up-to-date data in various locations including Coffman’s CRM, marketing database, backlog database, and more.
    • Support a variety of local and corporate marketing and BD initiatives.
    • Join and engage with appropriate architecture/engineering/construction (A/E/C) industry organizations, including Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS).
    • Interface with clients to support new and existing client relationships.
    • Research target markets and maintain our local leads database.
    • Update social media and website information. We will give you the training, resources, and mentorship you need to succeed in your role, but a solid understanding of A/E/C marketing and proposal processes will accelerate your learning curve and allow you to tackle the necessary tasks more quickly.

    • B.S. degree in related field desired.
    • 4 to 7 years of professional A/E/C marketing experience desired.
    • Excellent communication skills. You will be working with team members in the Bay Area office and other Coffman offices throughout the country, so clear written and interpersonal communication and strong listening skills are a must.
    • The ability to take direction and work independently while prioritizing tasks associated with simultaneous deadlines.
    • Must be a self-starter who is able to see the big picture and connect the vision of the company with his/her job, be persistent, and follow through in a consistent manner.
    • Passionate about the client or pursuit and takes ownership of his/her work.
    • Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
    • Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
    • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external teams.
    • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Dynamics 365, and Adobe Creative Suite software preferred. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
    • A solid understanding of A/E/C industry terminology, procedures, and how they align with the marketing principles.
    • Able to work independently, as a team member, and as a team leader.
    • Strong organizational ability, detail oriented, high degree of accuracy.
    • Must work well under pressure.
    • Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.

    OFFICE LOGISTICS:

    During the current shelter-in-place order in the Bay Area, Coffman is in compliance with the requirements of State and Local mandates. As circumstances evolve we will update our policies to reflect any changed circumstances. While the specific conditions that may prevail during the period are not fully known we anticipate one or all of the following to apply:

    • Shelter-in-place order continues. Work will be coordinated with Manager and other team members via video conferencing. Delegated tasks, review of progress and exchange of documentation/deliverables to be performed remotely between team members as well as via interface with company servers.
    • Shelter-in-place order relaxed with social distancing measures required at the office location. Measures will be put in place to encourage social distancing between employees and with visitors to the office. During this period, mass transit options may be more limited than normal service and will require additional time management for efficient commuting.

    The ability of the applicant to comply with these methods of working are a requirement of the position. We take seriously the health and welfare of all our employees and expect mindful cooperation with current social norms, including the above work practices.

     

    FEDERAL CONTRACTOR VACCINE MANDATE

    Coffman Engineers is a federal contractor and is therefore subject to the vaccination requirements of the “Executive Order on Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors” (EO) found here.
