Job Description

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Fire Protection CAD/REVIT Drafter to join our LA/OC fire protection engineering team. The role will primarily support our fire protection engineering team in the local Orange County and Los Angeles offices, and will also be responsible for local design/drafting initiatives such as the development and implementation of drafting standards. Drafting work will include but is not limited to the production of Life Safety Egress Plans, Fire Master Plans, and fire sprinkler and fire alarm system design drawings. Plans will be prepared from drawing markups, rough sketches, and specifications created by engineers and consultants. Effective communication is paramount, as this position requires internal collaboration with several engineers and project managers across multiple offices. In addition to fire protection, drafting support may also be requested periodically by our structural and MEP teams. 

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a desire to work and grow professionally with a multi-discipline engineering firm, and be willing to have fun.  They will have the option of working out of either the Orange County or Downtown Los Angeles offices.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a certified CAD training program or AA degree from two-year college CAD program
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit
• 8+ years drafting experience (6+ years in an engineering office setting)

PREFERRED SKILLS INCLUDE:

• Fire protection design experience
• Understanding of fire sprinkler system drawings, fire alarm drawings, and life safety drawings.
• The ability to communicate and understand fire protection and life safety concepts using sketches and written communication
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
