    Job Summary

    The Logistics Manager oversees and provides direction and guidance for all aspects related to the inbound and outbound freight for the various Coghlin Companies operations. This includes responsibility for selecting carriers, negotiating pricing, researching shipping methods, and resolving any shipment issues. The Logistics Manager will work with internal and external customers, as well as third party logistics providers to ensure all freight requirements are being met.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    · Manages both Inbound and Outbound freight for all Coghlin Companies sites.

    · Oversees the data management and reporting for freight cost tracking and optimization, and duty expense tracking.

    · Directs and negotiates contracts with Domestic 3PL’s, International Freight Forwarders, Customs Brokers, and Small Packages (Domestic & International).

    · Reconciles any freight payment issues with the appropriate parties.

    · Utilizes Transportation Management Systems, Logistics Portals, and other Supply Chain systems.

    · Supervises the scheduling, tracking, and management of carriers and logistic support services.

    · Prepares required domestic and international shipping documents.

    · Plans, optimizes, and schedules vessels/containers as required.

    · Assures all shipments from Coghlin Companies follow dangerous goods/hazmat shipping requirements.

    · Provides direction to Coghlin Company Procurement Department regarding supplier routings (domestic and international), quotations, in transit problem resolution, and cost analysis.

    · Operates as the subject matter expert in import trade compliance performing United States Harmonized Tariff Schedule (USHTS) and County of Origin (COO) classifications, act as the liaison with customs brokers and maintain the US-Mexico-Canada agreement where appropriate.

    · Operates as the subject matter expert in export trade compliance by supporting the Coghlin Companies Export Trade Compliance Team with US Principal Party, Electronic Export Information, and International Commercial Terms.

    · Provides support to the Receiving Departments when incoming shipment issues arise.

    · Additional tasks as assigned.

    Qualifications

    · Bachelor’s Degree preferred; equivalent experience in Logistics management will be considered.

    · 10+ years’ experience in Logistics Management

    · Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel) required

    · Meticulous attention to detail and follow through

    · MRP/ERP experience preferred

    · Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

    · Strong communication and customer service skills

    · Record of successful logistics and distribution management

    · Flexibility to work extended hours when needed.

    Working Environment

    · Approximately 90% of the work is performed in a precision, light industrial production

    area. The remaining time will be spent in office and warehouse areas.

    Physical Requirements

    · While performing some duties of the job, the employee may be required to stand for an extended amount of time, walk and reach with hands and arms. Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
