  • Responsibilities

    Associated Supermarket Group (ASG) has an excellent opportunity for a Collections Specialist. Collections Specialist is responsible for making collection calls and/or correspondence via email to facilitate the collection of outstanding debts and payments from customers. The Collections Specialist also ensures that ASG's accounts receivable are collected in a timely manner while maintaining positive relationships with customers.

    Type: Full-Time

    Location: Hybrid/ remote/office - Port Washington, NY

    Duties and responsibilities:

    · Provide customer service to clients regarding collection issues, review Weekly AR summary for adjustments of On-Account Payments, Skipped Weekly Statement Payments, and resolve client discrepancies and short payments.

    · Monitor and maintain assigned accounts- customer calls, account adjustments, small balance write off, customer reconciliations requesting POD’s, Pricing Issues, etc.

    · Accountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accounts.

    · Enlist the efforts of Sales and Credit & Collection Manager when necessary to accelerate the collection process.

    · Recommend accounts to be placed on Credit Hold or send a Final Demand Letter for Non-Payment.

    · Must communicate & follow up effectively regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.

    · Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with ASG Customers and Internal Teams.

    · Weekly and monthly reporting to direct supervisor.

    · Make phone calls (high-volume) to assigned delinquent customers.

    · Update Credit Metrics on AR Summary Aging including Credit Hold Status, Central Bill Status, and Payment Methods

    · Independent decision and judgement to reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances that are due.

    · Provide excellent & considerate customer service to ASG Customers

    · Internal and External customer interface.

    · Meet defined department goals.

    · Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Credit Department.

    Qualifications:

    · High school diploma required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

    · 3-5 years of high-volume business to business collections experience, accounts Receivable knowledge/experience a plus.

    · Knowledge of Billing and Collections procedures.

    · Strong attention to detail, goal oriented.

    · Commitment to excellent customer service.

    · Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    · Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced work environment.

    · Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word).

    · Excellent Excel Skills – including formatting reports, V-Look-up, and Pivot Tables.

    · Solution-oriented – proactive problem solver.

    · Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to debt collection (e.g., Fair Debt Collection Practices Act).

    Compensation: salary $55,000 – 65,000/year.
