Position Objective:
This role is responsible for guiding and supporting students in building a strategic extracurricular profile that enhances their college applications. The counselor will help students identify meaningful activities and opportunities that align with their academic interests and long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Planning & Advising:
-Work with students (grades 9–11) to design personalized extracurricular, volunteer, competition, research, and summer planning roadmaps.
-Advise students based on individual interests, academic strengths, and target university goals.
Opportunity Sourcing & Resource Management:
-Research and curate high-quality extracurricular opportunities (e.g., summer programs, internships, service projects, academic camps).
-Maintain an updated resource database and build connections with external organizations to expand opportunities for students.
Progress Monitoring & Guidance:
-Conduct regular check-ins with students to monitor engagement and outcomes.
-Assist students in documenting their activities, preparing reflection summaries, and building a portfolio for college application use.
Parent & Faculty Communication:
-Educate parents on the strategic importance of extracurricular activities in the college admissions process.
-Collaborate with teachers and other counselors to support students' holistic development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Public Affairs, Human Resources, or related fields.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in high school college counseling.
Strong understanding of U.S. college admissions and the role of extracurriculars.
Excellent communication, organization, and planning skills; ability to work well with teenagers.
Fluency in English and Mandarin preferred; experience with international students is a plus.
