    Overview of Archbishop Carroll:

    Founded in 1967, Archbishop Carroll was built as a twin facility, housing boys in the east wing and girls in the west wing. Today, Archbishop John Carroll is a Catholic, coeducational, college preparatory high school accredited by Middle States and affiliated with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Archbishop Carroll resides on 55 beautiful acres along the Main Line.

    The Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Office of Catholic Education, seeks a dynamic, innovative, results-driven leader for the Assistant Principal for Student Services position at Archbishop Carroll High School. This position awaits the energetic, visionary leader who demonstrates a strong commitment to Catholic education, exceptional leadership skills and positive experience leading a high performing school.

    Position Description

    The College Resource Specialist is responsible for guiding students and their parents through the college selection and application process, providing support and direction on course selection and extracurricular activities while in high school and education on the financial aid process. This role requires that this position be able to fill other roles and responsibilities matching those that qualified candidates may possess to help assure the successful operation of the school and fulfillment of its mission. These may include teaching, co-curricular programs, guidance or other areas of school function.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with students and families.
    • Offer individualized guidance to students and families, assisting them in understanding the college admissions process, exploring potential academic and career pathways, and identifying ideal colleges or universities.
    • Advocate for students by building and maintaining strong relationships with college and university representatives.
    • Add to a high-performing team that strives to create a transformative college-counseling experience for students.
    • Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and community partners to promote college readiness initiatives, coordinate college fairs, and facilitate networking opportunities for students.
    • Design and implement counseling programs and workshops to educate students and families about college admissions requirements, standardized testing, financial aid, scholarships, and other relevant topics.
    • Collect and analyze data related to college admissions outcomes, student demographics, and other relevant metrics to inform decision-making and improve counseling services.
    • Stay abreast of trends and developments in secondary and higher education.
    • Ensure that Archbishop Carroll’s curriculum is updated within the NCAA portal
    • Assist in the execution of a strategic plan for the college counseling department, aligning goals with the overall mission and objectives of Archbishop Carroll.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Guidance to prepare a report to the Board of Directors at various times during the school year.
    • Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and best practices in college counseling, maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.

    Position Requirements

    • A bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred) with demonstrated leadership, creativity and successful track record in college and/or academic guidance within secondary school or undergraduate programs their use in communication, data gathering and reporting. Some affinity with Naviance preferred.
    • A sophistication of mind to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders and celebrate the implementation of the school’s strategic planning initiatives.
    • Exceptional written, editorial and verbal skills coupled with the ability to think strategically.
    • Experience in developing strategic direction and leading adults and students to implement them.
    • Professional maturity and personal integrity with a desire to meet and exceed expectations and inspire others to be and do their best.
    • Willingness to work extended hours, particularly to meet valued and predetermined deadlines.
