    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and working closely with each location and entity. This position out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruiting, and employment law compliance. This position is primarily located at our manufacturing facility in Red Bud, IL.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide on-site human resources support to the Red Bud, IL facility.
    • Conduct recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, interns and temporary employees using the appropriate tools and strategies; conduct interviews and reference checks; distributes accurate offer letters and process background checks; conduct new employee orientations and support career-pathing program.
    • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for all company employees; assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures; interpret, explain, and provide guidance on policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations.
    • Assist with the compensation program; monitor the performance evaluation program and provide guidance and support to the supervisors regarding performance evaluations.
    • Perform benefits administration for our self-funded plan to include change assistance, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
    • Maintain records, reports and logs to conform to EEO and other government regulations.
    • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues; counseling and investigations.
    • Assist in the evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals.
    • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
    • Create and administer in-house training programs.
    • Serve as back-up for payroll processing and timesheets.
    • Through on-going and continued education, develop and maintain an essential understanding of employment laws, regulations and HR best practices (Title VII, FLSA, ADA, Leaves of Absence, STD/LTD, FMLA, USERRA, WC, etc.)
    • Process tuition reimbursement request and maintain records.
    • Provide assistance to the Human Resources Manager
    • Complete employee exit interviews.
    • Assist with special HR projects.
    • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
    • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
    • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

     

     

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide support to the St. Louis, MO office and other facilities as needed.
    • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere.  Exposure to harsh conditions—such as:  dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible.  All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas. 

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. Ability to lift and carry 10 lbs. on a regular basis is required. 

     

    KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.
    • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in a Generalist role is preferred.
    • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) is preferred.
    • Experience with engineering, manufacturing and/or construction environments is strongly preferred.
    • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work is required.
    • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
    • Must be able to handle several tasks with confidence.
    • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written is required.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required.
    • Excellent organization and planning skills.
    • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
    • Strong computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required.
    • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
    • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.

    THIS IS WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, writing, related field or equivalent experience — or just a really great portfolio
    • 1+ years of copywriter experience in an advertising agency or equivalent field required
    • Online portfolio that demonstrates strategic and creative writing capabilities
    • Motivated team player with the ability to collaborate across multiple creative teams within a fast-paced environment
    • High degree of initiative and independent judgment while juggling multiple projects with multiple stakeholders
