    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Principal Strategic Sourcing Manager will manage Sourcing and Commodity for Plastics, Metals, Foams that go into Kymeta products. The Mechanical Sourcing Manager will work closely with our highly talented Engineering and Technical teams to find the best sources of supply for meeting our exacting quality requirements, best cost solutions, and delivery. Creating and growing a Mechanical Commodity supply base to scale volumetrically, with efficient management of capital, the Mechanical Commodity Manager will help

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage commodity Cost, Delivery, and Quality for Mechanical commodity categories.
    • Partner closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, and Reliability Engineering groups through product development and sustaining.
    • Close collaboration with Product, Finance, and Supply Chain organizations through supplier-component management life cycle.
    • Support ongoing DFM efforts with Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering partners.
    • Ongoing strategic understanding of the plastics, metals, and other key commodity supply base and technology developments through market intelligence, research, trade show engagement, and other methods.
    • Manage environmental, regulatory, and trade compliance for each commodity category as appropriate.
    • Travel 20-35% managing supplier development, performance, and strategic negotiations.

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience in the design and engineering of Mechanical components (metals, plastics, foams).
    • Strong track record managing Cost, Quality, and Delivery of Mechanical components.
    • Experience in a startup product manufacturing environment, driving component volume from prototype to sustained volumes.
    • Experience with New Product Introduction processes and best practices.
    • Supplier life cycle management experience: supply base evaluation, selection, qualification, sustaining management.

     

     

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business or Mechanical Engineering (or related disciplines) with 3 years of related Strategic Sourcing or Commodity Management work experience.
    • Master’s in Business, Supply Chain or Mechanical Engineering (or related disciplines) preferred.

    • Empathic patience with individuals who are heavily-impacted by addiction, mental health concerns, and trauma.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under stressful conditions with people of varying socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientations and ethnic diversity.
    • Ability to be flexible, supportive and to work cooperatively with co-workers as a member of a diverse team.
    • Able to work a 40-hour work week, including one weeknight late shift (11:30am-8pm) and willingness to work Thanksgiving Day morning.
    • Proficient and experienced with Microsoft Office applications; particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Must be able to work efficiently and effectively with customized databases and technology, and conduct Internet research.
    • Must demonstrate strict attention to detail.
    • Valid Washington State Driver License and driving record acceptable to Plymouth insurance providers. Ability and willingness to transport tenants to appointments on a regular basis.
