    The Finance division is responsible for driving all activities related to PATH's accounting and financial functions and ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), PATH policies and procedures, internal controls, and audit support operating in 20+ countries. The team works closely with partners in human resources, legal, IT, office of grants and contracts, and the extended program leadership team to not only educate regarding finance and accounting procedures, but also explore how the finance function can support program and other operations groups building and optimizing finance business processes and systems to meet future needs and demands.   

     

    PATH's Global Expense Accounting Team is currently seeking a Staff Accountant with minimum of 3 years of experience, who will work with the rest of the Accounting team to oversee adherence to PATH Accounting policies as well as those of our donors. This position will require superb organizational skills, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and superior customer service skills (in person and via email & phone).

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Review expense reimbursements and advance requests in accordance with PATH’s policies
    • Monitor, register, and reconcile traveler advances/receivables, and ensure refunds are properly recorded
    • Track, code and register direct billed external travel-related invoices
    • Reconcile airfare expenses and allocate to projects
    • Register, monitor and reconcile workshop advances
    • Prepare state and local tax compliance filings
    • Conduct vendor verifications and OFAC compliance
    • Analyze multi-currency transactions and coordinate any necessary adjustments with local finance staff
    • Prepare and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations
    • Propose updates to accounting policies and procedural memos that are under the responsibility of the team
    • Perform ad hoc accounting research and provide adequate level of rationale and documentation of the conclusions to the Senior Accountant
    • Support monthly, quarterly, and yearly close processes by preparing various adjustments, journal entries and schedules as required
    • Provide backup for other Accounting/Finance functions as needed
    • Support global statutory audits

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • Understanding of US GAAP and strong accounting fundamentals
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in accounting or finance field
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance field or similar
    • Effective communication skills both spoken and written, as well as customer service with both internal and external clients
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
    • Knowledge of USAID regulations, such as 2CFR200, and state and local tax experience is a plus
    • Experience with a global ERP system with multi-currency capabilities is a strong plus
    • Attention to detail and ability to analyze data, research information to clarify issues, find and propose appropriate solutions
    • Strong ability to collaborate with team members from different geographical locations
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet policy driven deadlines

     

     

    Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • Qualifications

    A bachelor's degree in management information systems, business administration, or a related field or the equivalent combination of formal education and experience. At least three to five years experience in one or more aspects of sponsored program administration in a university or related environment preferred. System support experience preferred, as well as strong problem solving and communication skills. Reliable, thoughtful, and takes initiative. Broad experience with enterprise wide systems including SAP and Kuali Research preferred. Strong time management and multi-tasking skills are critical. Ability to learn and master complex systems and understand the interdependencies involved when updating and manipulating those systems. Strong understanding and experience with business process analysis. Experience with functional writing and the ability to translate business requirements into system changes, enhancements, and documented standard procedures. Ability to lead meetings and present to key stakeholders and executive leadership. Must work well in a team environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and bend to lift items. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products, catering and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
