  • Responsibilities

    Make a difference in a child's life! The College of Southern Maryland is seeking dynamic Child Care Aides at the St. Charles Children's Learning Center located on the La Plata campus. Responsibilities include assisting Child Care Teachers with implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and weekly lesson plans meeting the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of individual children and the class, as well as, direct interaction with children during self-directed activity time to ensure a cooperative learning environment. Other duties include assisting with cleaning and maintaining cleanliness throughout the center, helping maintain a healthy, safe environment, and promoting positive, open communication with families, children, and staff. This position will demonstrate commitment to center’s goals and objectives and follow all rules and regulations.

    Required Skills

    • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent
    • Previous child care experience preferred
    • Must meet and maintain Child Care Aide qualifications as required by the Maryland State Department of Education under COMAR 13A.16.06
    • Must obtain Maryland Child Care Credential requirements for Level 2 or higher within first 12 months of employment and maintain credential annually
    • Must possess CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
    • Must obtain medical clearance to work in a child care setting and successfully pass criminal background checks
    • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
