    PATH invites application for LABORATORY DIAGNOSTIC MANAGER based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, will perform the following roles and responsibilities under the guidance of the Country Project Director and in close collaboration with PATH India and headquarters (HQ). This recruitment is in anticipation of a 2-year Fleming Fund antimicrobial resistance (AMR) project.

     

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Assess equipment & kit requirement for the laboratory, invite quotes, get demonstrations and give technical inputs towards successful procurement
    • Oversee all laboratory related work and guide reporting laboratories on regular basis
    • Prepare SOP as per the site requirement and successfully implement and ensure adherence to the steps laid down in the SOP
    • Prepare projections for the monthly kits, reagents and consumables requirement
    • Actively coordinating with the Biomedical engineering department for routine maintenance, calibration and immediate troubleshoot
    • Must ensure Infection control measures in all the laboratories for personnel safety
    • Must collate all data from the labs and submit to PATH for their insights
    • Organize workshop and training on new diagnostic tools to the reference laboratories
    • Must be willing to travel all the laboratories to supervise the activities and write reports
    • Must be aware of the policies laid down in WHO/OIE with reference to the sample transportation, processing and reporting results

     

     

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • PhD in Microbiology/ Bacteriology/ Pathology/ Virology (with minimum 3 years’ experience in AMR or drug resistance diagnosis)
    • Good knowledge of modern methods for detecting/isolating/characterizing the pathogens.
    • Experience with QA/QC procedures and writing of laboratory SOPs
    • Experience with lab assessments, training, mentoring and capacity building towards accreditation
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Time/willingness to travel internationally
    • Must have sound knowledge of IT based apps for reporting the results from the laboratory

     

     

    Must have legal authorization to work in Sri Lanka.

  • Qualifications
    • Master's degree in the discipline of instruction OR Master's in any field AND 15 hours in the discipline OR Sufficient experience in lieu of either requirement, as approved by VPAA
    • Teaching experience is preferred.
    • Subject matter/content expertise in your field.
    • This person should possess enthusiasm and passion for student learning and be able to respond to the needs of students using a variety of teaching methods including new technologies.
