    Job Description

    SUMMARY:

    Colliers Mortgage is seeking an entry-level Mortgage Loan Analyst to join our Dallas / Fort Worth area office. The Mortgage Loan Analyst assists Underwriters with the underwriting of multifamily and senior housing transactions, including financial analysis, review of third party reports, identification of strengths and weaknesses, and presentation to Colliers internal Loan Committee as well as Fannie Mae or FHA/HUD staff. The Mortgage Loan Analyst must be able to provide exceptional service to clients.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Read, comprehend, remain current on all applicable handbooks, manuals, and guides and be able to communicate the parameters of those materials clearly to Underwriters, Loan Originators and lender representatives;
    • Assist Underwriters in the review and evaluation of loan pre-application materials and mortgage loan data to determine if borrower, property, and loan conditions meet program guide and lender established requirements;
    • Evaluate strengths, weaknesses, and mitigants of prospective loans, understand Fannie Mae DUS Program and FHA/HUD MAP guidelines and offer direction to the team for guide compliance;
    • Assist Underwriters in identifying transaction waivers/exceptions to Fannie MaeDUS Program and FHA/HUD MAP Program guidelines and prepare waiver/exception justifications;
    • Assist Underwriters in the analysis and evaluation of complex ownership borrower structures relative to legal and financial responsibilities and obligations;
    • Assist Underwriters in the detailed underwriting examination of financial statements for the property, borrower, and borrower principals. The underwriting analysis must also include a complete risk analysis of the proposal, the borrower, and the borrowers principals;
    • Assist Underwriters in reviewing reports prepared by third party consultants to determine if market value and physical condition of the asset meet the requirements of the proposed multifamily propertys loan;
    • Compile data independently and form conclusions on market conditions, management, property condition, and sponsor;
    • Perform financial analysis including trend and cap rate analysis, capital expenditure requirements and pro forma NOI and DSC calculations;
    • Complete property site inspections;
    • Assist Underwriters in the review of specialized documents such as seniors housing licensure, regulatory compliance agreements, and other documents related to the seniors housing industry;
    • Assist Underwriters in the review of specialized documents such as ground leases, regulatory agreements, Section 8 Housing Assistance Payment contracts, bond documentation and operating agreements for affordable properties;
    • Assist Underwriters in the coordination and scheduling of the application package submission and commitment timing as required by the various Fannie Mae and FHA/HUD lending programs;
    • Analyze practical problems and resolve complex challenges when confronted with minimum detailed, concrete or standardized information;
    • Provides training, mentoring, technical support, and service to less experienced Mortgage Loan Analysts;
    • Participate in the development and implementation of new processes and procedures related to program revisions and guideline changes
    • Other duties as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelors Degree required in business related field (Real Estate, Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics)
    • Up to 3 years of preparatory or related experience
    • Multifamily Housing underwriting experience preferred
    • Strong math, verbal, writing, and organizational skills
    • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Ability to recognize and mitigate risk
    • Ability to work independently and in teams
    • Ability to multitask and work on several transactions simultaneously
    • Strong time management skills and ability to operate under demanding deadlines
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Regular and reliable attendance required
