    ABOUT THE ROLE

    This position will work directly with our Design Director in all aspects of concept, design and product development.  We're an early-stage startup with extensive expertise. Our team members come from J. Crew, Lou & Grey, Rockets of Awesome, StyleCaster, MTV and Glossier.  We are looking for a multifaceted junior designer that has experience with accessories design but is looking for immediate ownership and accelerated growth in an extremely collaborative environment.  Come join us!

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collaborate on research and concept for our diverse and quickly growing range of stylish and innovative products for parenting
    • Design all accessories and see them through the entire development process: sketch into concepts; execute detailed tech packs for proto sampling; give clear feedback on protos; develop and approve all materials, trims, and lab dips for bulk production
    • Communicate design changes and updates to cross-functional partners
    • Assist in preparing and documenting presentation boards for key milestone meetings
    • Mentor and develop design interns

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must be a highly organized self-starter who has the ability to operate in a fast paced, collaborative environment
    • Must have the ability to execute both technical drawings and freeform renderings
    • Must have a strong fashion sense and have the ability to interpret trends
    • Shows enthusiasm and interest for the Colugo brand and product
    • Is a collaborative team player eager to build strong cross functional partnerships
    • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum bachelor's degree, preferably industrial design or apparel design
    • 2-4 years design experience, preferably handbags and small accessories
    • Experience developing product directly with factories with understanding of development from concept through engineering
    • Understanding of materials, hardware, leather, and handbag construction
    • High proficiency in Adobe Suite and Google Suite
