  • Responsibilities

    This role reports and coordinates with both the CEO of Columbia Orthopaedic Group and the Surgical Center Administrator.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all buildings, equipment, systems, and grounds for both COG and ASC facilities.
    • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of uninterrupted light, HVAC, power, water, security, and monitoring systems for both COG and ASC facilities.
    • Ensures the building’s overall condition and appearance are maintained.
    • Plan, develop, and implement programs relative to emergency management and patient safety.
    • Exhibit professional character, attitude, and appearance for self and staff.
    • Decision-making and problem-solving which include data collection, analysis, and plan development and implementation.
    • Serve as a resource to the staff in the facility. Collaborate with Leadership to monitor staff competencies.

    Requirements/Qualifications:

    • High School diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; preferred
    • General mechanical knowledge and ability required.
    • General knowledge of Healthcare CMS and State regulations; ASC preferred.
    • 5 years of hospital/facility plant operations and HVAC experience and/or 5 years in a particular trade such as mechanical, HVAC, boilers stationary operating engineer.
    • General knowledge of OSHA regulations.
    • Experience in emergency management/patient safety regulatory compliance preferred.
    • Occupational and Safety Training Certification preferred.
    • Ability to make decisions and solve problems in stressful situations.
    • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with other personnel, outside agencies, medical staff, and board members.
    • Language skills adequate for written and interpersonal communication in American English.
    • Basic computer skills proficiency.

    Physical Demands

    • Employee is frequently required to sit, converse, and listen; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Employee must be able to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds regularly and be able to push/pull over 25 pounds regularly.
    • Employee must be able to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.
