    Job Summary:

    Columbia Orthopaedic Group seeks a Certified Medical Coder to join our team. We are looking for a professional who has a certification in medical coding. The successful individual will be committed to accurate medical coding for outpatient services, diagnostic tests and other orthopaedic related medical services.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    · Comply with all legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practices

    · Conduct audits and coding reviews to ensure all documentation is accurate and precise

    · Assign and sequence all codes for services rendered

    · Collaborate with accounts receivable department to ensure all bills are satisfied in a timely manner

    · Communicate with insurance companies about coding errors and disputes

    · Submit statistical data for analysis and research by other departments

    · Professionally communicate with physicians and other health care professionals with questions about treatments or diagnostic tests given to patients with regard to coding procedures

    Educate physicians and billing staff in the standards of medical record documentation and coding of medical records

    Requirements/Qualifications:

    · Extensive knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPC coding

    · CPC Certified

    · Commitment to high level of customer service

    · Strong communication skills, including written and verbal communication and active listening

    · Good data analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

    · Comfortable working knowledge with Excel

    · Plans and prioritizes to meet deadlines

    · Excellent customer service skills; communicates clearly and effectively

    · Ability to multitask and remain focused while managing a high-volume, time-sensitive workload

    · Work well within a team environment be able to work flexible hours as needed

    Strongly prefer someone with a history of coding orthopedics in- and out-patient, predominantly spinal surgeries

    Education:

    High School diploma or equivalent

    CPC Certified

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Experience in a medical office or facility setting (required)

    Physical Requirements:

    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

    Experience:

    Orthopaedic Coding: 2 years (required)

    License/Certification:

    Certified Professional Coder (required)
