    POSITION SUMMARY

     

    The Safety Professional is responsible for supporting the project team in the successful completion of a construction project.  Currently this role will support a project located in Downtown Sacramento, just blocks away from the historic State Capitol Building and Golden One Center. The Safety Professional needed to support this site will be able to independently make responsible safety decisions and create mitigation plans to avoid risk.  This person embraces initiative and accountability and can successfully mange multiple deadlines and tasks, with a focus on our culture of People and Safety First. Responsibilities of the position could involve independently working on a single site or multiple sites, while collaborating with the Division Safety leadership.  This role may be filled as a Safety Coordinator II or Safety Coordinator III, dependent on professional experience and education.

     

     WHAT YOU'LL DO:

     

    • Knowledge and understanding of the Company’s Safety and Health Program, applicable Regulatory Standards and EM 385-1-1
    • Understanding of site specific project safety requirements
    • Assist in the completion and maintenance of the Accident Prevention Plan
    • Assist the Project Superintendent in the project site-specific safety orientation
    • Conduct project safety training, as needed
    • Conduct project safety audits
    • Participate in OSHA inspections
    • Participate in all incident and/or near miss investigations
    • Work with project team to maintain and anticipate necessary safety supplies for employees
    • Attend Owner and Client meetings and work with their safety representatives, as necessary
    • Assist in the development and review of Activity Hazard Analysis

      

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

     

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, and Environmental Applied Sciences or a closely related discipline.
    • A minimum of 3 years of Safety related experience including health and safety management systems, auditing safety processes, and in-depth knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies, procedures and practical application governing Safety in the workplace
    • Thorough knowledge of OSHA Construction and State Regulations
    • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously meeting established deadlines
    • Ability to train others (individual and groups)
    • CHST, CSP, or ASP certification is preferred
    • OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training, and OSHA 500 certification is required
    • Certifications in CPR and First Aid
    • Computer skills, i.e. Word, Power Point, Excel, and Windows
