    POSITION SUMMARY

     

     

    The Senior BIM Project Lead will implement, monitor, and maintain company BIM Standards on assigned projects with adjustments to meet the specified project goals. Ensures the model & information achieves the needs of the shop and field in a timely manner, plus serve as primary point of contact for the technical aspect of the BIM process throughout the project life cycle. The BIM Project Lead will have at least 5 years of commercial construction or design experience. This Senior BIM Project Lead will be ultimately responsible for the day-to-day coordination of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety and fire sprinkler scopes of a project. MEP coordinators will work closely with all members of the project team, project executives and regional leadership teams and will be responsible for the following:

     

     

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

     

    • Manage the owner-architect BIM interface and planning
    • Manage file sharing with other disciplines for design and coordination processes. (Arch, GC, EE, EC, FP). Coordinates the set-up of shared file server with the BIM Team and IT staff, this includes access, security and archiving of milestone submittals
    • Interfaces with IT staff to ensure the BIM Team has the necessary hardware and BIM Software properly installed and accessible for project use; coordinates BIM project workflow and software training for efficient project delivery
    • Coordinates design/coordination sequencing and scheduling activities to assure they are integrated with the BIM modeling effort.
    • Assist in establishing shop drawing and submittal schedules to verify coordination department can start as scheduled. Assist in establishing job close-out schedules and implement specific procedures for close-out including as-built documents.
    • Lead virtual close-out deliverables to project specific requirements
    • Review BIM Execution Plan for compliance with contract documents
    • Review for proper scope coordination among all trades and ensure that appropriate submittals are exchanged among trades where necessary
    • Review for proper space coordination among trades such as duct and piping layouts, beam penetration requirements, headroom clearances, etc.
    • Assist in development in the preparation of mechanical, plumbing and fire protection preliminary estimates
    • Manage the BIM budget and ensure the project team uses lean processes to finish the project under budget
    • Assist in development in the preparation of preliminary schedules
    • Participate in weekly GC, Owner and /or subcontractors’ meeting, as necessary
    • Arrange special meetings when necessary to coordinate subcontractors’ shop drawings, address design problems with subcontractors and consultants, etc.
    • Identify work of other trades which requires coordination with mechanical and electrical work such as drywall, elevators, finish hardware, etc.
    • Facilitate software setup and process for reviewing change order requests for scope and pricing Make recommendations on subcontractor performance, abilities and suitability for bidding certain jobs, and on key subcontractor personnel to request for certain jobs

     

     

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

     

     

    • Excellent knowledge of BIM processes and technologies, especially Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and Navisworks
    • Sheetmetal, Mechanical Piping, Plumbing, or Project Management experience preferred
    • Knowledge of: LISP, C#, VB.Net, CMD (Batch), Dynamo
    • Knowledge of industry standards such as NBIMS (National BIM Standard), NCS (National CAD Standard), AEC (Architectural, Electrical, and Construction—Mechanical Piping, Sheetmetal, Plumbing)
    • Project experience with Trimble (or other Total Station Unit)
    • Working experience with Excel
    • Knowledge of Autodesk products (or comparable products) is essential: Revit, AutoCAD, Fabrication (CADmep), Navisworks, 360 Glue
    • Some knowledge of additional BIM related software is a plus: Autodesk 3ds Max Design, MEPCAD AutoSprink
    • Problem solving, troubleshooting and training capabilities

    WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

     

    • Journeyman field experience or Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related construction, engineering, or technical discipline
    • 5+ years’ experience with HVAC, piping, plumbing and/or electrical BIM
