Job Summary:

The Companion/Sitter provides clients various homemaker/companion services in accordance with an established plan of care so that they can remain in their residence.

Essential Functions:

Provide companionship and respite services for family

Maintain the home in an optimum state of cleanliness and safety depending upon the client’s and the caregiver’s resources

Perform the functions generally undertaken by the customary homemaker, including such duties as preparation of meals, laundry, shopping and household chores

Perform casual, cosmetic assistance, such as brushing the client’s hair and assisting with make-up, filing and polishing nails but not clipping nails

Stabilize the client when walking, as needed, by holding the client’s arm or hand

Maintain appropriate work record

If requested by the client or the responsible party, the companion may provide verbal medication reminder to the client.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

High school graduate or G.E.D certificate

Achieves a minimum score of 80% on competency test in Home Health Aide Test

Meets passing criteria on DEARS Ethics test

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job

Possess a valid driver's license and have use of an insured automobile or access to adequate transportation for the job
