    Job Description

    ROLE: Electrical Safety Engineer

    LOCATION: 151 Engineering Way, Georgetown, KY 40324

    DURATION: 1 to 3 years project and potential to hire if the position is available.

    TRAVEL : 25% only domestic for now but future potential for International (Mexico and Canada)

    OVERTIME: Potential 10 hours or so – very rare on weekends.

    HYBRID: 2 days in the office at least depending on the performance. (Monday and Wednesday)

     

    JOB SUMMARY:

    ·         Electrical Subject Matter expert (SME) who is safety professional.

    ·         Electrical group – SME for arc flash, IEC: Leading our flash and design engineering studies, SCC ratings.

    ·         Seeking an experienced electrical engineer or safety professional with an electrical background to manage the Electrical Safety Program (ESP) by providing electrical expertise, customer support, and program implementation.  

    ·         The objective of the ESP is to ensure safe design, installation, operations, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and systems, including managing associated risks through mitigation or control of electrical shock and arc flash hazards.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ·         Interacting with the team members regularly, travelling to sites across the regions and company’s other facilities.

    ·         Arc flash and shock risk: mitigate the risk and controlling the electrical side of the equipment.

    ·         Reporting on finance standards and procedures and Technical reporting correspondence

    ·         This position will have direct responsibility for electrical safety across the North American (NA) Region as outlined in the company’s Electrical Safety Standard. 

    ·         Provide support all engineering, design, R&D, and manufacturing facilities in North American electrical equipment and systems including but not limited to electrical distribution, electrical construction & installation of manufacturing equipment, machine control panels, etc.  Priorities are to ensure regulatory compliance within a practical and safe work environment specifically for Qualified team members who work on or around electrical hazards.

    ·         Candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the interpretation and application of electrical safety codes and standards (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, UL, etc.) and make appropriate recommendations to improve team member safety and ensure compliance.

    ·         Work environment will include both engineering office in Georgetown, KY and manufacturing shop floor at our engineering, design, R&D, and manufacturing facilities across North America.

    ·          

    ·         REQUIREMENTS:

    ·         Bachelor’s Degree Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology or a closely-related discipline; minimum 5 years of direct electrical experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.

    ·         Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and interpretive authority on electrical & machine safety with comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70/70E/79/70B, IEEE, ANSI, ASTM and, other applicable industry standards.

    ·         Strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiating, and networking skills to drive safety improvement.

    ·         Possess independent judgment, creativity, initiative, and ability to apply knowledge and experience to resolve problems, compose technical correspondence and reports, and accomplish goals where established procedures may not be specific or do not exist.

    ·         Organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple activities and projects.

    ·         Excellent verbal and written communications skills to effectively promote safety with attention to detail and accuracy writing technical documents and reports.

    ·         Provide support as needed to all other aspects of occupational safety including incident investigations, program development and training, compliance evaluations & audits, etc.

    ·         Office 365 tools, PowerPoint presentation.

     

    PREFERRED SKILLS:

    ·         Experience performing arc flash and shock risk assessments and engineering studies.

    ·         Experience implementing safety through hierarchy of controls and design principles.

    ·         Assist the Electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) in administering the Toyota Electrical Safety Program (ESP).

    ·         Participate in professional organizations to stay current with industry trends, developments, and regulatory issues.

    ·         SME for Industrial Controls, Control of Hazardous Energy (CoHE) (i.e., Lockout/Tagout), Machine Risk Assessment, Safety Systems, etc.

    ·         Proficiency with CAD & Engineering Study software (AutoCAD, SKM, EasyPower, etc.) & electrical drawings/schematic creation and reading.

    ·         PLC program design, development, maintenance.

    ·         Industrial automation or machine control panel design/fabrication/installation experience.

     

    TRAVEL QUESTIONS:

     

    Q. Will it be for meetings/observation? Or will it be for hands on work?

    A. Individual will lead the vendor who is working on-site.

     

    Q. How soon after the offer will they be required to travel?

    A. After a month or two. Kentucky, West Virginia and Alabama plants for this year at least.
