    Position Summary

    We are hiring dedicated and safety-conscious Heavy Civil Equipment Operators to join our growing team. This position plays a vital role in civil development projects by operating various heavy machinery to perform cuts, fills, grading, and general site preparation. Depending on the project needs, operators may be assigned to excavators, bulldozers, etc.

    This hands-on, field-based role reports to the Project Superintendent and involves work at various construction sites.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, etc., to complete grading, excavation, and earth-moving tasks.

    Follow safety procedures at all times—estimate distances, be aware of surroundings, and promptly report hazards, damage, or injuries.

    Read and interpret civil plans or use guidance from surveyors to grade slopes, create level surfaces, remove or fill materials, and ensure site readiness.

    Conduct daily equipment inspections, including tires, fluids, fuel levels, and controls, to ensure safe and reliable operation.

    Load and unload construction materials and debris manually or using machinery.

    Change attachments and troubleshoot mechanical issues as needed.

    Communicate effectively with the superintendent and crew during daily briefings and throughout the workday.

    Perform light maintenance, transport fuel or parts to job sites, and assist with equipment repairs when necessary.

    Store equipment properly and complete end-of-day documentation or equipment logs.

    Required Qualifications

    Minimum 1-2 years of experience operating heavy civil construction equipment.

    Proficient in the safe operation of excavators, bulldozers, and graders.

    Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols.

    Ability to interpret site plans and grading specs and follow verbal or written directions.

    Must pass pre-employment, post-incident, and random drug screenings.

    Clean driving record and a valid driver’s license.

    Ability to sit and operate machinery for extended periods.

    Physical strength and coordination to control heavy equipment and perform labor-intensive tasks.

    Basic written communication skills for completing logs and reports.

    Good verbal communication to coordinate with crew members and supervisors.

    Preferred Qualifications

    CDL is a plus.

    Experience working on multi-phase heavy civil projects.

    Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
