    Job Description

    TODAY Digital, the multiplatform arm of America’s favorite morning show, is looking for a Commerce Editor to work across Shop TODAY digital and broadcast during a Tuesday to Saturday schedule. Duties include spearheading our keyword SEO strategy, identifying new opportunities to expand and improve coverage with in-depth reporting to ensure articles are comprehensive and accurate, as well as working on Saturday broadcasts segment for TODAY. They should also plan to assist with Shop TODAY’s refresh search strategy for their evergreen content library (including explainers, roundups and gift guides) based on performance data, seasonality and long-term search trends.

    The ideal candidate is a self-starter with keen attention to detail and should be comfortable with making editorial decisions based on short- and long-term search trends and reader-driven analytics. The ideal candidate should also have a strong understanding of the digital lifestyle realm, along with a deep comprehension of SEO.

    _ Responsibilities_

    • Assign and edit new stories and refreshes consisting of roundups, explainers and other evergreen search topics in the lifestyle commerce space
    • Act as lead editor for Saturday commerce broadcast segments, as well as support the digital production of articles tied to broadcast coverage
    • Work alongside senior editors to devise short- and long-term editorial strategy and calendar buildout
    • Identify and implement areas of improvement with existing content to maintain quality and improve search rankings, including optimizing SEO, enhancing readability, featuring new reporting opportunities based on Google queries, etc.
    • Monitor how stories are performing using our analytics programs and making editorial decisions based on traffic / conversion patterns and internal Audience Development insight
    • Manage a small team of direct reports
    • Work with freelancers and internal writers to field new pitches and assign refresh opportunities
    • Work with associate editors to improve and streamline workflow and processes
    • Collaborate across teams to optimize articles for search, social and Shop TODAY readers
    • Participate in special event coverage, including Prime Day, Black Friday / Cyber Monday and peak holiday shopping seasons

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years editing experience, preferably in the lifestyle space
    • Experience working with broadcast as a producer or digital editor, preferred
    • Keen understanding of SEO best practices, tools, search news and trends
    • Strong understanding of the digital lifestyle space (beauty, fashion, home, fitness, etc.), preferably with evergreen coverage
    • Familiarity with a news cycle and working in a deadline-driven environment
    • Ability to edit quickly and accurately
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented and excellent verbal/written communication skills
    • Managerial experience preferred
    • E-commerce experience a plus
    • A wide network of freelancers a plus
