    US-BASED SOLUTION ARCHITECT

    commercetools is changing the way commerce software is developed, delivered and operated. By using a highly available cloud native, microservice platform, and open source development patterns, commercetools is fundamentally enabling digitized shopping in the new distributed commerce era. By means of an extensive e-commerce API set, digital commerce processes and technologies are connected flexibly. Our goal is to make it easy to use a complex commerce platform for any developer in any language.

    We are looking for a talented Solution Architect to join our awesome team at our headquarters in downtown Durham, NC.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    If you love working with companies to help them redesign their enterprise architecture to fit a new model of software development, then this is the job for you. To be successful, you need to have a deep understanding of enterprise software architecture, a great executive level presence with customers, an ability to think about business driven technology solutions and the capability to bring this all together to deliver a successful project for our customers and partners.

    Micro-services are the wave of the digital commerce future and you'd be getting in on the ground floor of making this change happen on a global basis. You'd be involved with both mid-sized as well as some of the largest enterprises in the world, who are looking beyond software platforms and deciding that to maintain their business advantage, they need the benefits of cloud plus the flexibility of a micro-services approach.

    You will need to be able to go into diverse business scenarios and bring order out of chaos. You will be working with some of the leading experts in this field and you will have the ability to use your creative skills to make a significant, positive impact on how software is developed, deployed and operated in the future.

    A deep technical software background in building software solutions is required for this position. You'll be working with both our sales team and our delivery partners to help our company quickly grow. There is some travel with the role.

    This is an interesting position where you can bring everything you know and make a significant impact on our customers and partners' way of developing software.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or comparable experience

    Recent and relevant eCommerce or retail experience

    At least 7 years of practical full-time work experience in a similar role

    Ability to travel up to 50%

    Knowledge of common programming languages (imperative and functional, preferred in Java, JavaScript/ES6)

    Experience with modern cloud architecture and paradigms

    E-commerce experience

    Fast, as well as continuous, learner. Everything is always changing at commercetools

    Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills

    High hands-on mentality

    Aspiration to constantly improve yourself and learn new technologies and concepts

    Excellent English language skills

    Team player with good communication skills, high reliability and a good dose of pragmatism
