Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Commercial Array Supervisor to oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of commercial solar energy systems. This supervisory role requires strong technical expertise in solar energy, team management, and project coordination. As a Commercial Array Supervisor, you will be part of a team ensuring the successful delivery of solar projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. You will supervise a team of technicians and/or subcontractors and collaborate closely with the Commercial Operations team, Project Managers, designers/engineers, and other project stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for each commercial solar installation.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise, train, and coordinate teams of technicians/subcontractors for commercial solar array projects, ensuring all tasks are performed efficiently and safely.
Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of commercial solar energy systems, ensuring high-quality workmanship, adherence to project specifications, system integrity, and system longevity
Submit daily progress reports to the Commercial Operations Department - documenting installation status.
Ensure that all solar arrays are installed in compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes, as well as safety and environmental regulations.
Manage project timelines, ensuring that installations are completed on schedule and within budget.
Conduct site assessments and work with the design team to ensure appropriate solar array configurations and layouts for optimal energy production and code compliance.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with commercial solar systems, including electrical, structural, and software-related problems.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including project plans, installation manuals and reports, and system performance data.
Act as a key point of contact between the installation team/subcontractors, Project Managers, clients, and other stakeholders, providing updates and resolving any issues that arise during the installation process.
Coordinate project logistics including necessary rental equipment, facility requirements, and deliveries.
Create project specific BOM’s and assist with warehouse inventory; ensuring necessary materials and tools are available for projects, and job packs are complete and accurate.
Conduct safety briefings and ensure all team members follow proper safety protocols and procedures during installations.
Transport tools and materials to jobsites as required with a company vehicle and if necessary, a company trailer.
Ensure jobsite organization and cleanliness and maintain material awareness to prevent work stop due to material shortages.
10% - 15% overnight travel
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree or relevant technical certification in Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in solar energy, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role managing commercial solar installations.
In-depth knowledge of commercial solar systems, including PV modules, module-level power electronics, inverters, racking systems, and electrical components.
Strong understanding of electrical codes (NEC), safety standards, and regulatory requirements related to commercial solar installations.
Proven leadership skills, with experience supervising and mentoring a team of technicians/subcontractors.
Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on efficiency and quality.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Ability to read and interpret system diagrams, technical specifications, and plansets.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a safe driving record.
Preferred Skills:
OSHA30, NABCEP Certification, equipment operator certification, or other relevant industry certifications.
Experience with multiple OEM systems and components.
Proficiency with solar design software and project management tools.
Knowledge of local and NEC codes and regulations related to solar/ESS installations.
Ability to work in challenging outdoor environments and lift heavy equipment.
Experience in commercial project management, budgeting, and cost estimation.
