    About Buffalo Solar

Buffalo Solar is a leading commercial solar EPC focused on delivering high-quality, technically sound projects from development through construction. We pride ourselves on accuracy, professionalism, and seeing projects through to completion.

    Position Overview

We are seeking a Commercial Solar Field Engineer (Pre-Construction) to lead site assessments for commercial solar projects. This role is critical to project success — you will be responsible for capturing complete and accurate field data that directly informs engineering, design, and project feasibility.

This is not an entry-level position. You will be expected to make informed decisions in the field, communicate findings clearly, and ensure all necessary information is collected on the first visit.

    Key Responsibilities

Conduct on-site assessments of commercial properties for solar feasibility

Capture accurate measurements of rooftops (primarily flat roofs) and site conditions

Evaluate electrical infrastructure, including service panels, transformers, and points of interconnection

Access roof and interior spaces (including mechanical rooms, attics, and structural areas as needed)

Identify potential challenges related to structural, electrical, and layout constraints

Document all findings with detailed notes, photos, and supporting data

Provide clear post-assessment summaries to support engineering and design teams

Communicate directly with facility managers and property owners during site visits

Utilize tools such as drones, measurement equipment, and digital documentation platforms

    What Success Looks Like

Complete, accurate site data captured on the first visit

Minimal need for return site visits due to missing information

Clear, organized documentation that enables efficient proposal development

Strong collaboration with sales, engineering, and development teams

    Qualifications

Experience in commercial solar, construction, electrical, or related field

Strong understanding of electrical systems and/or building structures

Comfortable working on rooftops and in various site conditions

Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in the field

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the region

    Compensation & Benefits

    Competitive salary based on experience

Company vehicle provided for all site visits and field work

All tools, equipment, and technology provided to perform the role effectively

Growth path into engineering, project management, or development roles

Opportunity to work on impactful commercial renewable energy projects

Supportive, team-oriented environment focused on quality and accountability

    Why This Role Matters

You are the bridge between sales and engineering. The quality of your work directly impacts project success, timelines, and profitability.

👉 If you’ve ever walked a site and thought, “this could have been done better,” this role is for you.
