Commercial Solar Proposal Specialist
Location: Depew NY
Overview:
Buffalo Solar is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Solar Proposal Specialist to support our growing commercial team. This individual will play a key role in developing accurate, compelling proposals using tools like HelioScope and our internal proposal platform. They’ll serve as the go-to resource for sales—creating both preliminary designs based on assumptions and final proposals after site assessments.
In addition, this role will handle interconnection and permitting applications, requiring strong technical knowledge and a firm grasp of local codes, utility requirements, and jurisdictional regulations. Attention to detail is a must to ensure applications are complete and avoid costly delays or rejections.
You’ll be helping ensure our commercial rooftop solar projects are executed with precision, safety, and efficiency—while working with a brilliant team that operates with a “one team” mindset, guided by our core values: ambition, willingness to learn, knowledge, respect, and teamwork.
Proposal & Contract Development:
Create precise and visually clear solar proposals using HelioScope and our internal proposal tool.
Ensure proposals are grounded in accurate system sizing, production estimates, and financial modeling.
Finalize and convert proposals into contracts for use by the sales team.
Review and double-check all designs and calculations for accuracy before submission.
Communication & Project Coordination:
Maintain up-to-date records and communication within ZOHO One, keeping all stakeholders aligned on proposal status and changes.
Proactively communicate with sales, engineering, and project management to gather inputs and deliver on timelines.
Technical Knowledge & Code Compliance:
Integrate knowledge of interconnection standards, NEC, and local permitting requirements into every proposal.
Keep current with town regulations, utility rules, and industry best practices.
Participate in town board or public meetings, when needed, to represent the technical aspects of a project.
Team Collaboration:
Work as part of a collaborative team, relying on others for input and providing accurate information to support decision-making.
Adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
What we are looking for:
Strong technical foundation in solar PV systems; background in engineering or solar design preferred.
Extreme attention to detail, especially in numbers, calculations, and design layouts.
Proficiency with HelioScope or similar solar design software.
Strong understanding of electrical codes, interconnection requirements, and permitting processes.
Experience developing commercial solar proposals and contracts.
Skilled in using ZOHO One or similar CRM/project management platforms.
Clear communicator with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both internal and external stakeholders.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple timelines and deliverables simultaneously.
Team player who takes ownership of their work and contributes to a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
Previous experience in commercial solar or energy-related industries.
Familiarity with utility rate analysis and energy production modeling.
NABCEP Certified
