Committee for Children is growing and we're looking for an experienced EDUCATIONAL DESIGNER. In this role, you'll work with our Education, Research, and Impact team to conceptualize, develop, and write cutting-edge, research-based social-emotional learning (SEL) materials for elementary school students.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated and resourceful with a proven ability to work independently, collaborate with staff across departments, have excellent communication skills, and work well with advisors such as educators, researchers, and other professionals.

THIS IS A LIMITED-TERM ROLE THAT IS ANTICIPATED TO LAST FOR 12 MONTHS AND WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR COMPANY BENEFITS.  THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN OUR SEATTLE OFFICES.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

• Collaborating with researchers and instructional designers on program design and conceptualization, including pedagogical strategies
• Developing and writing program content to reflect program design and input from researchers, instructional designers, and practitioners
• Collaborating with development team
• Providing training or information to clients or other outside parties

QUALIFICATIONS

• BA in curriculum and instruction, instructional design, curriculum development, education, or equivalent (graduate degree a plus)
• 3–5 years of experience conceptualizing and writing curriculum and educational materials
• 3–5 years of experience collaborating on project or product teams
• 1–3 years of experience teaching elementary school or working in an out-of-school time setting with elementary school students
• Experience creating research-based educational materials for students and educators
• Understanding of pedagogical strategies and best practices in teaching elementary school students
• Experience developing digital materials
• Experience working with a highly collaborative, fast-paced team that uses agile methodologies
• Demonstrated competence in working with diverse populations, including culturally diverse groups and those with special needs
• Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally (up to 15%) and have own transportation preferred for local field test and pilot observations
• Knowledge of or experience with SEL preferred
• Fluent Spanish preferred
