We've set a North Star Goal to positively and equitably transform the social-emotional well-being of 100 million children annually by 2030, and in pursuit of that goal, we're looking for an experienced RESEARCH ASSISTANT to join our team.

    As the ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Research Assistant, you will contribute to curricula and product development projects, as well as actively participate in continuous program and product improvement research. This position requires the successful candidate to quickly understand and adapt pertinent research for curricula and product development. The successful candidate will apply a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) lens to all aspects of their work.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Support product development under the direction of a senior researcher:

    • Conduct literature reviews for product development and publications, ensuring literature reviews include studies with culturally and ethnically diverse samples and/or are conducted by culturally and ethnically diverse group of scholars
    • Assist in data collection by creating and managing online surveys, supporting interviews and focus groups, and= conducting observations
    • Work with the senior researcher to collect data from culturally and ethnically diverse samples and evaluate and document potential biases in all data collection instruments
    • Clean and code data and contribute to qualitative and quantitative data analyses
    • With guidance, write reports that summarize equity-related research practices and research findings, including within and between subgroup variations (such as data collection sites, grade levels, and student race and ethnicity) or where there was inadequate data to detect subgroup effects

    Support the Research Manager on organizational projects:

    • Write literature reviews on diverse topics
    • Review and give feedback on written material from other departments
    • Support grant writing with formatting, references, and so on
    • Other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, sociology, psychology, public health, or a related social-science discipline or equivalent social-science research experience OR in human-centered design, human-computer interactions, product design, or user experience
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
    • Experience using analytical software programs such as SPSS Statistics, NVivo, and Dedoose
    • Experience using online survey tools such as SurveyMonkey and Qualtrics

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience working on and contributing to diverse, collaborative teams
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
    • Strong interpersonal and cooperation skills
    • Strong time-management and organizational skills including being logical, being able to follow directions, and being able to meet deadlines on multiple projects
    • Ability to maintain detailed, accurate records
    • Enthusiastic about learning new skills and accepting challenges
    • Ability to develop expertise in new areas quickly
