  • Responsibilities

    Committee for Children is growing, and we're looking for an experienced SCRUM MASTER to join our team! In this role, you'll be responsible for helping other members communicate, coordinate, and cooperate. The successful candidate understands and practices servant leadership and enables teams to self-organize, self-manage, and deliver products using effective agile practices.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

    • Guiding and coaching the team and the organization to follow agile practices
    • Guiding and coaching the team to become self-organized
    • Facilitating the team's progress toward team goals
    • Helping the team improve and take responsibility for their actions
    • Continuously engaging in challenging the team to improve performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity
    • Facilitating all team agile ceremonies, including daily standups, retrospectives, sprint reviews, and sprint planning sessions
    • Consulting with the product manager (product owner) on budget development and oversight
    • Building a safe and trusting environment where conflicts can be managed in a healthy way without fear of blame
    • Being responsible for supporting and coaching the product owner and team on agile best practices

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 5+ years in scrum master role for a software development team
    • 3+ years in budget development and management for software development projects
    • Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building
    • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models, as well as expert knowledge of both agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
    • Good skills and knowledge of facilitation, continuous improvement, empowerment, transparency, and servant leadership
    • Knowledge of agile approaches such as Kanban, Scrum, XP
    • Knowledge and experience with agile techniques, including automated testing, user stories, testing
    • Creative approach to problem solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view
    • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
