TAILORED SERVICES SPECIALIST – JOB DESCRIPTION
Common Ground Employment Services - West (CGES - West) is a small but growing company based in Westchester, CA. We provide tailored employment & education support services to individuals who are neurodiverse. We consider most of the people we work with to be friends and run a very close-knit team. Everyone here has the same duties and job title. The primary requirement is you have a good heart, most everything else is teachable.
AS A TAILORED SERVICES SPECIALIST YOU WILL BE SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS WITH:
- Discovering a persons' interests, skills, and employment goals and helping develop S.M.A.R.T. (Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Time-Bound) goals as well as weekly/monthly/yearly action plans to achieve those goals
- CAREER DEVELOPMENT: career exploration, resume building, interview practice, learning employability skills, and navigating the job search
- POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION SUPPORT: Collaborating with participant to identify appropriate career paths, schools and majors, assisting with enrollment in courses, accessing student services/tutors/campus life, attending classes with them and supporting with note taking and clarifying key concepts, and developing core organizational skills to help them complete their education.
- Hard & Soft Skills Development
- Booking rides using a variety of transportation resources (Access, Uber/Lyft, Dial-A-Ride, Taxi, etc.)
- Coordinating with their circle of support (family, group home staff, service coordinators) to create a support system to meet their individual goals while away from the office/work
- Onsite Class Attendance support to ensure individuals are understanding key concepts introduced in class
- Onsite job support / job coaching to ensure individuals maintain employment and meet productivity goals
- Regularly travel to various sites in the community (West LA College, Santa Monica College, jobsites, etc) to meet with individuals
- Provide other services as needed depending on the individual’s goals
- Fostering an atmosphere of honesty, accountability and motivation
- Wearing multiple hats to assist our people (tailored services specialist, job coach, mentor, friend, life coach)
- Above all, developing and fostering a positive, professional, and friendly relationship with individuals and teaching them how to develop positive relationships
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for tracking hours, mileage, expenses and submitting monthly reports
- Responsible for writing and organizing accurate & detailed reports and other documents as directed
- Conduct outreach & relationship maintenance (phone, email & in-person) with local businesses owners, hiring managers, etc. to assist individuals with obtaining jobs/internships
- Responsible for filling out and submitting necessary forms for internships & jobs
DAYS AND HOURS OF AVAILABILITY ARE:
- Full-Time Candidates preferred but open to part-time for the right people
- Schedule is flexible, generally daytime hours, but may include evenings & weekends depending on participant’s employment & education needs / schedule
- Pay is Flexible and depending on experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- Primary & Unwavering Qualification is a GOOD HEART
- Bilingual skills in SPANISH are highly desired
- Motivated to be better than you were yesterday, and better tomorrow than you are today
- College experience or degree is desired, but not required. High School Diploma with demonstrated work history in a variety of jobs is acceptable.
- Experience working with the neurodiverse community is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to undergo a background screening
- Ability to speak and write in English in a professional manner.
- Casual business dress when meeting with hiring managers.
- Must complete and pass required Tailored Services paid training and staff orientation before beginning work and on an annual basis.
