  • Responsibilities

    Checkout Technician (seasoned Field Svc Tech, someone who has been involved with installation, maintenance, and start-up of OEM equipment). If you have worked on complex equipment, mechanical, electrical, PLC, HMI, etc. doing troubleshooting, resolving issues, and checking out the equipment prior to delivery... that is ideal. They may also be customer facing in areas of FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and providing some operational training to customers.

    Purpose:

    The Checkout Technician is responsible for the active completion of all troubleshooting and checkout processes ensuring that equipment produced by company meets the highest level of quality and performance. The Checkout Technician will also participate in virtual and on-sight factory acceptance testing (FAT) with customers. The Checkout Technician will support the training of customers on the operational use and maintenance of the equipment while the customer is on site for FAT testing. The Checkout Technician may be required to collaborate with engineering or manufacturing to safely resolve checkout, component or quality issues on equipment being tested. The Checkout Technician will coordinate activities and schedule with the Field Service Manager to ensure timely completion of checkout activities. The Checkout Technician will demonstrate urgency in all activities, is customer focused, organized, detail oriented, is an effective collaborator and communicator.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Performs all final checkout processes and on-site customer training.

    Completes the checkout process but also provides feedback and insight into SOP’s for the checkout process considering opportunities for improvement.

    Responsible for customer training but also provides feedback and insight into SOP’s for on-site customer training for new equipment considering opportunities for improvement.

    Participates in LEAN processes and practices and communicates opportunities for improvement.

    Follows 5S principals in the testing cells. (sort, set-up, standardize and sustain)

    Provides feedback for improved maintenance, operational use or manufacturing improvements to improve the overall product quality.

    Will be called on to perform testing and calibration of sub-assemblies and components for new furnace builds, customer spare parts, as well as customer returns.

    Contributes as needed in the process to ensure checkout schedules are met.

    Contributes as may be requested in all aspects of the business to ensure strategic and tactical business goals and objectives are met. Education and Experience

    3-5 to years minimum experience in start-up and testing of industrial electro-mechanical capital equipment.

    Experienced in troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical equipment.

    Trade School, Technical Degree or Associates Degree a plus.

    Experience navigating industrial equipment HMI platforms and PLCs. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Experience with AB SLC 5/05 and Compact

    Organized and detail oriented.

    Strong Ability to Multitask

    Project and Process Management Skills

    Experience in RS View & Factory Talk, View programming a plus. Logics Hardware a plus.

    Travel Required

    Travel is rare but may be required.
