  • Responsibilities

    Responsible for Human Resources functions at a our facility to include recruitment and hiring, benefits administration, employee relations, compensation administration, training and overall human resource implementation and maintenance. This facility is staffed by non-union workers and union workers under a Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Company uses ADP Workforce Now for the administration of payroll, benefits, and recruitment. Primary Job Responsibilities:

    Supports departments in developing and delivering strategic HR plans that fit with the overall business direction.

    Assures optimum staffing is maintained to minimize loss of productivity by recruiting exempt and nonexempt staff and assuring an adequate supply of qualified workforce is available

    Champions the onboarding process by ensuring that it's high-quality and up to date, providing clarity and connection for employees so their roles serve the overall business vision

    Promotes and fosters a collaborative partnership between the Union and company management; interfaces with Union representatives pertaining to areas such as membership, benefits and policies.

    Administers and monitors non-union benefits programs including but not limited to health/ dental/ vision insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability and company retirement program.

    Provides counsel to employees and managers on work issues and where required implements training, coaching, motivational techniques, or termination.

    Investigates workplace complaints and/or grievances, assists advocates with mediation for unionized staff; ensures compliance with national and local HR regulations by conducting investigations and maintaining records.

    Manages training needs to meet organizational short and long-term business plans; plans and coordinates external training and trains on internal HR-related topics.

    Develops statistical information and provides detailed weekly reports to upper management on department activity.

    Assists in the development and interpretation of operating policies and practices in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and company organizational policies and practices.

    Handle confidential matters with discretion.

    Maintains knowledge of industry trends; recommends advances in technology or practices that assure company remains a state-of-the-art employer.

    Works within our compliance and regulatory systems to ensure and maintain compliance with safety, operational, and regulatory standards of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management (EMS), and Occupational Health & Safety Association (OHSA) is maintained.

    Job Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree, combined with 2-3 years Human Resources experience or 5 years equivalent Human Resources work experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment

    Experience working in Unionized environment with understanding of contract terms, legal principles and grievance procedures

    Previous exposure to concepts in labor relations

    Progressive HR career growth

    Highly proficient at Microsoft Excel

    Proficient at ADP Workforce Now reports

    PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification a Plus

    Physical Demands:

    Occasionally lift 0-25 pounds; manage efficient phone, keyboard and office machinery use; hear, see to include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, speak and read

    Ability to work overtime, maintain alertness and regular attendance, & meet the controlled substance policy
