CNC Setup Multi Axis
The CNC Set-up person is responsible for producing machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine.
Responsibilities:
Reads and interprets blueprint designs of the product to be manufactured and sets machine to produce product/components to customer specification.
Reads and interprets job traveler and enters correct information into ERP system.
Loads CNC fixtures into machines and sets up 3-axis and 5-axis router to manufacture parts.
Measures first piece and submits report to Quality department to obtain permission to run production.
Programs the router by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches, calculating requirements including basic math, geometry, trigonometry, proving part programs.
Periodically checks CNC machine to ensure positioning of drills stay perfectly aligned.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Maintains equipment through preventative maintenance; following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Performs other related duties that contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervisor.
Must follow all safety policies, procedures and programs; is responsible for individual safety and the safety of others.
Maintains the Company’s housekeeping standards.
Abides by the policies, procedures and work rules established by the plant.
Required:
HS diploma or GED.
Ideally a person with certificate or 2-year technical degree in Machine Technology, Precision Machining or CNC Operations apprenticeship.
Must have 2+ years of hands-on experience with 3-axis and 5-axis CNC set up and operating.
Must have 4+ years of general CNC machining work experience.
Must have 2+ years MasterCam Programming.
Ability to read technical manuals/blueprints/drawings.
Methodical / analytical problem solving skills, and strong mechanical aptitude.
Strong organizational/follow-up skills; attention to detail.
Ability to work well with limited supervision.
Professional presentation and attitude.
Working conditions and environment:
Normal work hours with occasional optional as well as mandatory overtime necessary to meet deadlines
Normal office and manufacturing plant environment which may include exposure to dust, and both hot and cold conditions.
Must be capable of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary to comply with government and company safety standards.
Job includes tasks that require standing, bending, lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs., twisting, and gripping;
