    Communicare is a community mental health center in North Central Mississippi that serves Calhoun, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Tate and Yalobusha counties. Communicare offers specialized treatment services for adults with serious mental illness, children with serious emotional disturbances, individuals with substance abuse disorders and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

    Communicare is currently seeking a Director of Children's Services.

    Position Summary

    The Director of Children’s Services is responsible for the implementation, coordination, and evaluation of Children’s Services programming.

    The position requires a Master's in psychology, social work, counseling, or other equivalent degree. The position requires Clinical and/or supervisory experience.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Direct and oversee clinical services for children and adolescents, including supervising all Children’s Services staff, based in Lafayette County.

    Implement and monitor the provision of services in accordance with the Communicare policy and procedure manual.

    Ensure compliance with all external regulations and guidelines Communicare is required to meet (DMH, Medicaid, etc.).

    Serve as representative of Communicare and liaison to the community, schools, and other agencies as appropriate.

    Write grants, operational standards, and training manuals as necessary for the implementation and ongoing operation of Children’s Services.

    Interview and hire job applicants and train new employees.

    Complete performance appraisals and provide corrective actions, including disciplinary reports as needed.

    Monitor staff caseloads and staff productivity, taking action where needed to ensure standards are met.

    Represent Communicare at Department of Mental Health (DMH) meetings, trainings, and other meetings as needed including community activities such as health fairs and other public education events.

    Successfully complete mandatory trainings such as CPI and Pre-evaluation Screening Certification as required by Communicare.

    Facilitate and participate in Communicare treatment team meetings.

    Provide ongoing education to Children’s Therapists on Medicaid, the Department of Mental Health regulations and operational Standards, and other subjects as needed.

    Collect statistical data regarding Children’s Services as required by Communicare and the State Department of Mental Health.

    Provide information and input to supervisory and administrative staff as needed to ensure that activities are appropriately directed to the needs of the children served.

    Develop and monitor school-based services, including day treatment programs.

    Provide programmatic support to all Office Supervisors and assist Office Supervisors in supervision of Children’s Services staff.

    Provide supervision to bachelor’s and master’s level interns.

    Works in direct collaboration with all members of the team, including outside agencies, therapists, medical staff, etc., to address mental health needs of individuals served.

    Establish and coordinate MAP team(s), as needed.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.

    Independent clinical license required.

    Valid driver’s license, access to personal automobile/transportation, liability insurance, and Communicare insurable driving record.

    Acceptable criminal background check.

    Ability to work toward overall agency goals independently and accept supervision.

    Ability to relate to clients and to supervise employees.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
