Communicare is a community mental health center in North Central Mississippi that serves Calhoun, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Tate and Yalobusha counties. Communicare offers specialized treatment services for adults with serious mental illness, children with serious emotional disturbances, individuals with substance abuse disorders and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Communicare is currently seeking a Director at our Crisis Stabilization Unit in Panola County.
The position requires a Master’s degree in a mental health field with the ability to obtain a CMHT through the MS Department of Mental Health; however, an independent license is preferred. The director is responsible for the day to day operations of the Crisis Stabilization Unit. This includes the hiring of staff, their coaching, discipline and recommendation for termination if needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Interview and select appropriate support staff to uphold full compliance with all Communicare Human Resource Policies and Procedures
Train all non-clinical and clinical staff at the CSU.
Assign work schedules and provide direct supervision to the non-clinical and clinical staff.
Assign work schedules for all nursing staff and provide direct administrative supervision (medical supervision will be provided by the Director of Nursing and Medical Director)
Proceed over all clinical staffing meetings
Fill in, as needed or necessary, for any support service employee who is absent from duty, including weekend support staff.
Plan, direct, and coordinate all facility safety regulations to make sure all operations are in full compliance with fire safety and disaster planning procedures.
Ensure all client policies and rights are being upheld, address the infraction of these policies, and the consequences for the infractions and refer these matters directly to the Clinical Director of Communicare
Make periodic observations of employees on all three shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Maintain food service operations that are in full compliance with all related regulations and food safety and handling requirements.
Provide clinical services to individuals receiving services to include group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy.
Perform on call duties when assigned.
Communicate with individual clients and/or family member when needed in order to provide any guidance, direction, or other assistance as may be required in order to support ongoing treatment planning.
Create and implement a family education program for the CSU
Work closely with the medical department to include all nursing staff, the Director of Nursing, and the Medical Director to ensure that individuals are receiving the needed care
Any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
A minimum of 3 years of experience with individuals with severe mental illness.
Experience working in a residential or acute mental health or substance abuse setting is preferred.
Strong organizational skills with an ability to manager others.
Supervisory skills and experience preferred.
Ability to work a flexible schedule as dictated by the needs of the program.
Valid Mississippi driver’s license, personal auto insurance, and an insurable driving record.
Acceptable criminal background check.
Requires completion of annual trainings in compliance with DMH standards
Pass a Communicare background check and drug screen. Communicare is a drug-free workplace.
Ability to perform the responsibilities of the position as described above.
Satisfactory completion of CPR prior to reporting to the work site.
Satisfactory completion of CPI or MANDT within 30 days of employment.
