TITLE:
Communication & Volunteer Coordinator
Summary of Duties:
· Recruiting, screening, training and supervising agency volunteers.
· Public Relations for agency; managing social media accounts, updating agency website, public service announcements, etc.
· Community Relations for agency inquiries and donations.
· Administrative support
· Coordination of National Safe Place Program
Accountability:
The Communication & Volunteer Coordinator is responsible to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
A. Volunteer/Intern Program:
· Recruit, screen, schedule, train and supervise all agency volunteers and interns.
· Develop and maintain an up-to-date policy and procedures manual for the volunteer program.
· Maintain volunteer files and background checks.
· Network with other volunteer administrators.
B. Public Relations Activities:
· Develop and implement appropriate public relations activities to increase public awareness of runaway and homeless youth needs.
· Manage Compass House social media accounts and respond to direct messages; X, Facebook, and Instagram.
· Actively update the Compass House website, manage Google SEO Optimization, and answer all questions/comments from the webpage via email.
· Create and deliver public service announcements.
· Write blog posts and monthly newsletter
C. Community Relations Activities:
· Participate in community coalitions and commissions.
· Conduct school and community presentations for explaining the services offered by the agency.
· Communication between the agency and the public, answering questions about donations and agency inquiries via email, phone, and social media.
· Help manage Compass House fundraisers and provide administrative support.
D. Administrative Duties:
· Maintain employee files and background checks.
· Assist Development Director with fundraising and special events coordination.
· Assist Executive Director and Corporate Compliance in projects/tasks/presentations, etc.
· Manage office requisition forms and order needed office supplies.
E. Safe Place Program:
· Facilitate the Safe Place Program within the agency.
· Safe Place Volunteer recruitment and training.
· Recruit and maintain businesses to serve as Safe Place sites.
· Site inspections of all Safe Place sites annually.
Special Conditions:
The Communication & Volunteer Coordinator must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends for community events and volunteer activities.
Qualifications:
· A bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Services or Communications related field.
· Minimum of two years of administrative experience.
· Experienced communications skills.
· Up to date technological and social media skills.
Pay Rate/Benefits:
· $21/hr
