    Communications Coordinator, MSNBC

    Role Summary/Purpose: The coordinator will provide communications support for the day-to-day press efforts for MSNBC's weekend programming, long-form division, and media monitoring for MSNBC on Saturdays and Sundays. Note: The role is a Wednesday to Sunday position.

    Responsibilities:

    • Pitch show content and draft press releases for weekend programming
    • Partner with team leads overseeing MSNBC Weekends to serve as liaison with editorial partners to identify best bites and news-making moments to generate coverage from segments and interviews
    • Monitor press coverage for MSNBC over the weekends, including compiling press reports as directed
    • Support the team in day-to-day media monitoring and daily clippings as needed
    • Assist team with coordinating various media requests to support weekend editorial and long-form division
    • Assist team in managing the MSNBC Media Relations' social media account, including monitoring and drafting tweets
    • Support weekend show teams with breaking news and developments
    • Manage and update ongoing team lists, including press lists, requested trackers, messaging materials, team calendars and other office needs
    • Manage multiple projects as assigned, including Versant related content and initiatives

    Note: This position requires non-traditional work hours and will at times require late night and after-hours work

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations or related field preferred
    • Two years of experience working in either public affairs or public relations at a media company or PR agency
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint , and more
    • Must be willing to work in New York
    • Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekdays with short notice
    • Must be available for irregular ''on call shifts'' 24 hours a day / 7 days a week

    Required Characteristics :

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent interpersonal communications skills
    • Experience with media, news, television network or politics preferred
    • Ability to prioritize and multitask over a wide range of responsibilities and areas
    • Excellent verbal and written communications abilities
    • Passion for politics and news media
    • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet crucial deadlines
    • Highly proficient in time management and communication
    • Ability to work independently as well as on various teams and projects

    Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
