General Summary
The Registered Dietitian will provide direct nutritional support services, including nutritional assessment, counseling, education and advocacy. They will evaluate, interpret, monitor and document the nutritional status and nutritional needs of clients. They will provide clinical care in a skilled and effective manner, utilizing appropriate technical and decision-making skills to develop nutrition programs designed to prevent disease and promote health, targeting particular groups of people.
Primary Responsibilities
Plan, organize, coordinate and evaluate nutritional component of health care services for organization: Develop and implement plan of care based on assessment of nutritional needs and available resources
Evaluate nutritional care and provide follow-up continuity of care
Instruct individuals and families in nutritional principles, diet, food selection, and economics and adapt teaching plans to individual lifestyle
Conduct and/or participate in in-service education and consultation with professional staff and supporting personnel of CACOST
Plan, conduct and evaluate dietary studies
Evaluate food service systems and make recommendation for conformance level that will provide optimal nutrition and quality food
Develop meal plans, taking both cost and individuals’ preferences into account
Collaborate with providers to identify and connect with patients in need of nutrition counseling
Collaborate with the kitchen staff to plan menus that meet nutritional requirements and cultural preferences
Develop, review, update and implement educational materials to meet the needs of clients
Adhere to all Federal Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations by protecting the privacy & security of all patient/client health information
Participate in departmental & organization meetings as appropriate
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutrition, or comparable major, required. Master’s degree in a relevant field, strongly preferred
Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) with the American Dietetic Association
Licensed in the state of Texas as a Registered Dietitian
Excellent written and communication skills required
Must be able to use Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must be able to travel
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a safe driving record and be able to pass a pre-employment physical and a criminal history background/fingerprint check.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift thirty-five pounds. Lifting will be primarily confined to occasional on premises lifting of boxes of office supplies and minor office equipment. Light to medium physical duties include standing, walking, reaching, bending, talking for up to eight (8) hours a day. Must have good vision.
