    General Summary

    The Human Resources Generalist is directly responsible for providing a wide variety of both complex and routine administrative services. Facilitates the onboarding process for all new employees, develops reports, and provides administrative support to human resources functions as needed.

    Primary Responsibilities

    1. Provides advice, counsel, and answers mainly routine questions from employees and managers on human resources policies and procedures

    2. Processes personnel actions and reviews completed personnel actions to ensure conformity with agency, state, and federal regulations.

    3. Makes job offers to applicants and conducts and schedules all activities associated with necessary clearances; conduct new hire orientation.

    4. Develop and analyze human resource data and metrics to complete Agency Turnover Rate, Policy Council Personnel Report, Hires/Separation Report, Exit Interview Report, 1-week New Hire Report, etc.

    5. Assists in training agency staff on issues, rules, policies, and regulations related to human resources management.

    6. Conducts 2 - weeks new hire survey phone calls.

    7. Assist with exit interviews for all voluntary terminations.

    8. Enter HR related data into software applications as required (e.g. HRM, ChildPlus, Careerplug etc.)

    9. Assist HR Manager with unemployment hearings with the Texas Workforce Commission.

    10. Conduct monthly employee reports for off training status, disciplinary status and annual evaluations due.

    11. Process employee verification and submit necessary documents to Texas Workforce Commission.

    12. Manage and facilitate agency's applicant tracking software while assisting Hiring Managers.

    13. Other duties as assigned by the HR Manager.

    Work Experience

    Experience working in a variety of HR functions including employment law, workforce planning, staffing and recruitment, performance management, safety, policy development, employee relations, training and development, compensation and benefit administration and personnel management

    Demonstrated human resources experience working in a non-profit or social service organization

    Education/Certifications/Licensure

    Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration

    Three years’ experience in Human Resources management

    Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification

    Skills

    Proficient in current computer applications

    Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Effective communication skills with an ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with persons from varied ethnic, socioeconomic, educational and cultural backgrounds

    Excellent organizational skills

    Ability to maintain composure and efficiency under the pressure of deadlines and frequent interruptions

    Bilingual (English/Spanish)

    Physical Requirements

    Light to medium physical duties include standing, walking, reaching, bending, hearing, talking for up to eight (8) hours a day. Must be able to work on a computer for a minimum of 6 hours a day. Must have good vision. Must be able to lift twenty (20) pounds. Lifting will be primarily confined to occasional on premises lifting of boxes of office supplies and minor office equipment. Non-physical demands include performing multiple tasks simultaneously, the ability to meet multiple deadlines, judgment decisions and working closely with others as part of a team. Successfully complete a pre-employment criminal background check, drug test and motor vehicle records check. Must be able to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Schedules may vary based on business needs.
