    General Summary

    The Physical Therapist works within a transdisciplinary team approach in assessment and development of Individual Family Service Plans for children and their families. Provides written reports, consultation, training, and counseling in the area of motor development and/or pathology to staff, families, and community partners. Assists in the assessment of need and development of augmentative, assistive technology equipment and alternative mobility strategies. Travels within catchment area for delivery of services.

    Primary Responsibilities

    1.Provides individual physical therapy in a variety of inclusive and natural settings according to the best practice standards of the profession.

    2.Delivers at least 85 % of planned services to infants and toddlers and their families on a monthly basis.

    3.Participates in the transdisciplinary team assessment, does practice specific evaluations and types the reports of assessments and evaluations by the next business day.

    4.Helps develop family friendly/routines based strategies with family and other team members based on results of assessment and/or evaluation.

    5.Writes progress notes at the time of service that contain all essential elements and are comprehensible and family friendly; submits by the next business day.

    6.Participates with the transdisciplinary team in Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings.

    7.Helps train other staff, families, and other community partners such as Early Head Start teachers, to implement the strategies developed in the IFSP.

    8.Provides families with consultation and therapy services in the home and other natural settings.

    9.Evaluates for and develops assistive technology/adaptive equipment to assist EC! consumers in daily living skills and promoting independence.

    10.Is knowledgeable about community resources and services delivery systems.

    11.Assists with transition activities when necessary.

    12.Completes continuing education as required by the Texas Board of Examiners for license renewal.

    13.Follow all Community Action Corporation of South Texas Policy and Procedures, and ECI Policy and Procedures.

    14.Follows policies on infection control and universal precautions and uses standard First Aid and CPR as needed, during the delivery of services.

    15.Provides supervision of physical therapist assistants.

    16.Provides monitoring of medical necessity for services including Specialized Skills Training (Re-assessments).

    17.Responsible for reporting accurate statistics as required by monthly direct service logs, case status reports, annual reports, time study, and performance reports.

    18.Attends supervision and staff meeting as well as scheduled training opportunities.

    19.Provides and updates schedule as changes occur and ensures proper planning as per the IFSP.

    20.Other duties as assigned.

    Work Experience

    Two (2) to Three (3) years pediatric experience

    Education/Certifications/Licensure

    A Bachelor's or Master's degree in physical therapy from an accredited program. Must be licensed to practice by the State Board of Examiners of Texas.

    Must have knowledge in pediatric development, assessment, services, assistive technology and rehabilitation.

    The candidate must have a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record and auto insurance required.. Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) is required.

    The candidate must pass pre-employment physical

    Doctor’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited program.

    Skills

    Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) is required.

    Proficiency in computer and Microsoft Office programs

    Physical Requirements If a preliminary offer of employment is extended, a physical will be required before the offer can be accepted.

    Light to medium physical duties include standing, walking, reaching, bending, hearing, talking, kneeling, floor sitting, pulling, reaching, grasping, pushing, stooping, standing, sitting, climbing, occasional running, and the ability to move with agility to carry out IFSP services. Must be able to lift up to thirty-five (35) pounds.

    Must be able to work in variable environments related to temperature, humidity, degrees of cleanliness/order, and around other varied environmental factors and elements. Non-physical Requirements Performing multiple tasks simultaneously, the ability to meet multiple deadlines, judgment decisions, emergencies, irregular schedules, and working as a Team Member with other employees and client teams.
