General Summary
Provides leadership and instruction to youth in local middle and high schools using the Wyman Teen Outreach Program (TOP®) Curriculum per fidelity standards. Facilitators will encourage youth to develop future goals, avoid risk-taking behaviors and gain leaderships skills through educational and community service learning.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide Foundational, Intermediate and Advanced group instruction for teens ages 12-17 using the TOP® Curriculum in the mandatory program components for the areas of relationships, problem solving, communication, goal setting, decision making, emotion management, health and wellness, and community service to ensure at least 75% of participants develop skills in these areas.
Ensure that implementation of the TOP® Curriculum meets fidelity standards. If not being met, work with the YDC and/or Program Manager to increase fidelity and follow any provided improvement plans.
Promote the development of a positive sense of self and leadership development by working with youth and CSC to develop and implement community service learning (CSL) projects.
Engage students in CSL to ensure that 75% of participants complete required 20 CSL hours in each full-year implementation.
Evaluate the need for materials for classroom and CSL events and work with the YDC and CSC to inventory and order.
Follow procedures set forth in the district/school served. Coordinate with school counselors and teachers for program planning and/or referrals.
Assist in strategic dissemination and communication activities to raise awareness of the program with youth, their families, and key stakeholders.
Promote and attend local CAG and YLC meetings with CSC to assist with community mobilization efforts.
Provide relevant data to the Data Reporting Analyst to ensure accuracy of reporting mandated by the federal funding agency.
Must meet or exceed program goals and objectives set forth by the federal funding agency in their assigned county(ies).
Be/Become a certified facilitator in the TOP® Curriculum and attend applicable local, state, and national trainings.
Become/remain certified in First Aid/CPR.
Attend scheduled trainings and independently continue to increase knowledge on relevant topics.
Comply with the project’s confidentiality policy.
Any other duty as assigned by the Program Director, Program Manager, or Youth Development Coordinator.
Work Experience
Equivalent work experience in the field of Social work, Sociology, Education or Psychology
Education/Certifications/Licensure
Baccalaureate Degree in Social Work and/or Sociology, Education, Psychology
Skills
Must have computer skills
Must have the ability to communicate with youth openly without judgment.
Promote a positive image through manners, dress, attendance and attitude.
Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) is preferred.
Knowledge of community resources and local agencies.
Physical Requirements
Frequent travel within the area. Must be willing to work flexible hours. A valid driver’s license, safe driving record and acceptance by the Agency’s vehicle insurance carrier are required. Must pass PRS background check. Must pass a pre-employment physical.
