    SUPERVISES: FULL TIME STAFF AND HOURLY STAFF 

    OVERVIEW OF CCA AND TITLE V GRANT: 

    The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is a public, two-year community college serving Aurora and east metro Denver.  CCA enrolls 11,000 students annually, over 62% of whom are students of color, including nearly 32% Hispanic students.  65% of CCA students receive some type of financial aid, including 52% of whom receive Pell grants, and nearly two-thirds are first-generation college students.  CCA was recently awarded a U.S. Department of Education Title V Grant to fund the ASEGURANDOTODO EL POTENCIAL DE NUESTROS ESTUDIANTES: ENSURING OUR STUDENTS’ FULL POTENTIAL_ project. 

    Through the project, CCA will scale and sustain culturally responsive pedagogy practices and curricular enhancements in targeted associate of science and associate of arts gateway and second-level courses.  CCA will develop and scale Guided Pathways communities, as well as imbedded Learning Communities in order to eliminate equity gaps and increase retention, completion and transfer outcomes for Hispanic and other students of color, as well as low-income and first-generation students. CCA will also build the data analysis and evaluation practices needed to effectively monitor leading and lagging outcomes on an ongoing basis and make timely adjustments to programs and strategies where needed.  The project design is based on best practice research, including the study by MDRC of Kingsborough Community College’s Freshman Learning Community Program (Sommo, et.al, 2012) from the What Works Clearinghouse.  

    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    The Community College of Aurora is a dynamic institution that strives to serve its diverse student population through innovations in instruction and student support founded on principles of equity and inclusion. The Project Director will lead CCA’s Title V Grant and will oversee the Title V project including supervision of project staff, collecting data, managing the budget, and writing internal and external reports. This position will be responsible for day-to-day project implementation and operations while providing oversite for developing programming that intentionally centers students and their experience at CCA. The project director will collaboratively work with academic affairs and student affairs departments to ensure that students reach retention, completion, and transfer goals within the grant. The successful candidate will have a strong background and expertise in project leadership, grant management, building strategic and collaborative partnerships and program development that is culturally responsive and relevant. 

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    HUMAN RESOURCES (25%) 

    • Supervises, evaluates, and provides support to all Title V Grant staff in collaboration with other relevant departments.  Project staff positions include Learning Community Coordinators, Inclusive Pedagogy Instructional Coaches, and a Data Specialist. 

    • Provides training for staff on project-specific expectations. 

    • Responsible for effective administrative organization and management. 

    • Provides leadership and models values to staff.  

    • Responsible for creating an inclusive, engaging, and respectful work environment and culture. 

    • Monitors and ensures time on task for Title V staff.

      

    PROGRAMMING OVERSIGHT AND SUPPORT (50%) 

    • Develop and maintain a working relationship with the federal program officer. 
    • Develop, maintain, monitor and enforce Standard Operating Procedures/Internal Controls Manual for the project. 
    • Create an overarching project implementation plan and monitoring progress towards achievement of interim and annual performance indicators, working with the Steering Committee, faculty and CCA leadership to adjust project plans where needed, and bringing in additional collaborators as appropriate. 
    • Monitor the project and maintaining all documentation, including creating and routinely updating a project-specific set of files that includes appropriate grant regulations, all grant documents (grant award letters, program officer correspondence, budget revisions), and budgets, including approved expenses, budget modifications, and similar documents.  
    • Monitor and track project spending, approve grant expenditures, and provide budget reporting to the college’s fiscal office.

     

    PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION (25%) 

    • Collaboratively work with project staff to develop student-centered instructional support and programming that is pedagogically sound and culturally responsive and relevant while intentionally empowering students academically and socially.   
    • Collect data and assess project progress, outcomes, and success, collaborating with the external evaluator and CCA’s IR Office to ensure that all appropriate data is being collected and tracked.  
    • Monitor and report project progress, outcomes, and upcoming areas of focus to the CCA leadership and key stakeholders.  
    • Develop and submit interim and annual reports as required by the U.S. Department of Education, and maintain familiarity with all program regulations.

     

     

     

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

    • Bachelor’s degree. 

    • Proven experience managing large-scale projects, including staff supervision and budgets, preferably including federally funded grants. 

    • Demonstrate a commitment to engaging in diversity, inclusion and equity practices in prior professional roles. 

    • Experience with data collection, evaluation, and report writing, either directly or through institutional or external contractor collaborations. 

    • Experience working on projects serving underserved student populations, with a preference for projects serving students of color, low-income, and first-generation students.  

    • Experience building collaborative relationships and partnerships with faculty, administrators, staff, students, parents and families.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Master’s Degree, preferably in higher education or related field. 

    • Bi-lingual English/Spanish. 

    • Experience in a community college setting. 

    • Extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of diversity, inclusion and equity. 

    • Strong understanding of systemic structures that create inequitable outcomes for underrepresented populations.

    SALARY RANGE:  Anticipated salary range is mid $50’s to 60k annually. The specific salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan. Leave and holiday benefits are also included.
