JOB TITLE: Graduate Student Assistant, Hourly Staff
DEPARTMENT: Sirviendo/MEFirst (Center for First Year Experience, English and Math)
PAY RATE: $20 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
STUDENT SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT (55%) Develop supportive cohort within participant groups Attend courses with students Create supportive working relationship with faculty Understand student needs transitioning to college Reinforce classroom learning objectives especially as it relates to college success and transfer information Connects students with on-campus services Development of student accountability within online community Ensure students have proper support and access to technology
PROGRAMMING (30%) Development of engaging D2L shell for participants Builds welcoming environment of community college learners Develops engaging online participation platforms, e.g., social media Establish office hours
PROGRAM ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION (10%) Develop pre and post tests to ensure objectives of program are being met with faculty, staff and students Responsible for keeping accurate student files Conducts ongoing assessment of participant satisfaction Assist staff with summer calendar of events
HUMAN RESOURCES (5%) Provides leadership and models Community College of Denver values Responsible for ensuring an inclusive, engaging, and respectful work environment/culture
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in education, counseling, public administration or a related field Relevant professional experience working with first-generation income-sensitive students or similar
Experience with developing, executing, and evaluating programs Experience with teaching or group facilitation
Excellent written and oral communication
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Currently matriculating in a graduate program
Seek a rich and rewarding experience working with students seeking to earn their bachelor’s degree
Have a passion for working with community colleges, and understand the needs of a non-traditional and largely first-generation student population
Have experience or desire to learn about the transfer process in Colorado
Seeks to improve the success and path of transfer students
Be flexible, creative and innovative to solve issues that may arise
Have an understanding of higher education systems
TIME COMMITMENT
28 hours a week (may not exceed 28 hours per week)
